Why it happens
Solis identifies salt spray and high humidity as conditions that can accelerate corrosion and affect PV equipment. Equipment selection, protective construction and installation practices need to reflect the environment.
The inspection should distinguish cosmetic surface changes from damage affecting a connection, enclosure seal or structural component. It should also establish whether the product’s published environmental suitability applies to the exact model and location.
Ask for a maintenance plan based on that assessment. No universal interval or corrosion category can be assigned to every installation simply because its address is in Karachi.

What you can check yourself
- Record where deterioration is visible from a safe position.
- Gather equipment models and the structure’s coating specification.
- Note whether exposure changed after nearby construction.
- Save photographs from earlier service visits for comparison.
- Describe whether the equipment is indoors, sheltered outdoors or directly exposed. Do not open an enclosure to look for internal corrosion.
What not to do
- Do not spray electrical equipment with water, oil or rust treatment. Do not paint ventilation openings, seals or identification labels. Avoid assuming that an ingress-protection rating also establishes corrosion resistance.
When to call us
- Request inspection for progressing corrosion, enclosure deterioration or repeated moisture-related faults. Burning, exposed conductors or unstable supports require urgent attention.
