What you will see

  • Panels projecting beyond the roof perimeter.
  • A layout changed on site to fit extra modules.
  • Uncertainty about supported areas and clamp positions.
  • An installation that differs from the drawing shown to the client.

Why it happens

DOE’s severe-weather guidance explains that wind conditions around roof edges, parapets and rooftop obstructions affect PV design. Extending an array or changing its location therefore needs a design review, not only a check that the panels fit physically.

The engineer and installer should identify the permitted geometry and the loads transferred through modules, rails, connections and the building. The review should also consider access and any affected roof functions.

A specified clearance or overhang from another project should not be copied without checking its basis. Ask for the final drawing to show what was actually installed and for any departure to be explained.

Within the design

Supported areas and clamp positions as drawn.

Extended on site

More wind load at the edge. Needs engineering review.

An overhang copied from another project is not proof it suits yours.

Applies to arrays with LONGi, Jinko and other panels.

What you can check yourself

  • Compare existing photographs with the approved layout.
  • Note whether extra panels were added during installation.
  • Gather the module model and mounting-system details.
  • Record visible movement or changes from a safe location.
  • Tell us if the apparent overhang cannot be seen clearly. No customer needs to approach a roof edge to measure it.

What not to do

  • Do not pull panels into position, add weights or fit improvised braces. Do not treat an unsupported edge as a handhold. Avoid accepting a generic maximum overhang without equipment and site verification.

When to call us

  • Request assessment when the installed geometry differs from the design or its basis is unclear. Movement, loose parts or visible structural damage require restricted access and prompt attention.

Layouts in Faisalabad and Lahore

Storms in Faisalabad and Lahore expose weak edges. Send our team the layout and photos if the array differs from the drawing.
