Module authenticity

Check every solar panel is genuine before you pay

Take the serial number from the back label and check it on the manufacturer's own website. Every major brand sold in Pakistan has an official check, and each takes about a minute per panel.

Fake, relabelled and B-grade panels are common here because the most popular models sell in huge numbers. Check every panel in a delivery, not one sample.

The 5-minute serial number check

These five steps work for any brand. Do them before payment, while the panels are still in their boxes.

1Read the serial numberIt is printed with a barcode on the label on the back of the panel.
2Match the codesOn most models a matching barcode is sealed under the front glass. It must match the back label and the box.
3Verify on the official pageUse the brand links below. Type the address yourself; never use a link the seller sends.
4Compare with the datasheetModel code, wattage, size and weight must match the official datasheet for that model.
5Get flash data and an invoiceThe invoice should show brand, model, wattage, quantity and every serial number.

For AIKO, Cora Dawn and Jasco panels, verify the serial number through the brand's official support channel. AIKO ABC panels and the LONGi Hi-MO X10 use back-contact cells, so they have no busbars (the thin silver lines) on the front. A "back-contact" panel with front busbars is not what its label says.

What to look at on every panel

A physical check catches many fakes before you even go online.

Size and weightCompare with the datasheet. A 585 watt N-type panel is about 2278 × 1134 mm; a noticeably smaller panel cannot produce the same power.
Label qualitySpelling mistakes, mixed fonts, uneven printing or a label stuck over another label are warning signs.
Junction box and cablesThe box on the back, its cable length and the MC4 connectors should match the datasheet.
FrameGenuine frames are clean and evenly cut, with drainage holes. Look for re-drilled holes or bent corners.
Cells and glassCells should be evenly coloured, with no cracks, dark "snail trail" lines or bubbles inside the panel.
Bifacial panelsA bifacial (double-glass) panel has glass on the back, not a white plastic sheet.

Fake or B-grade?

One warning sign is a reason to recheck. Two or more are a reason not to buy.

Official page shows no recordFake, relabelled, or a typing error (recheck first)
Result shows a different model or wattageRelabelled panel
Grade is not A, but sold at A-grade priceDowngraded panel
Canadian Solar result shows a ship-to country other than PakistanGrey import; manufacturer warranty may not apply here

Seller avoids showing serials before paymentMixed genuine and fake stock
Seller sends their own "verify here" link or appFake verification page

B-grade panels are not always fake. They are factory seconds and should be sold as B-grade at a lower price, never as A-grade.

Panel verification FAQs

Keep the records. Save a screenshot of each verification result with your invoice. A warranty claim needs the serial number and proof of purchase. Buy verified panels
