LONGi solar panel verification: how to check a panel is genuine

Last updated:

LONGi solar panel verification is done on LONGi's official Module Authenticity page: enter the panel's barcode, or scan the QR code on its nameplate. A genuine panel returns its own record (module type, power class, certifications, electrical data and warranty); a fake returns nothing, or a record that does not match the label.

LONGi has put a unique anti-counterfeiting QR code on every module since 2022, under its "One Module One Code" system. In October 2026 the company warned buyers again about counterfeit modules sold under its name, after a case abroad ended in a fine and a prison sentence for the seller.

LONGi serial number check: step by step

The whole check takes about one minute per panel with a phone. The Hi-MO 7 and Hi-MO X10 are among the most searched solar plates in Pakistan, which also makes them a common target for relabelling, so check every panel.

  1. Find the codes. The serial number and barcode are on the sticker on the back of the panel, and on most models a second barcode sits under the front glass. The nameplate also carries a QR code.
  2. Check the two serials match. The barcode on the back sticker and the one under the glass should show the same number. A mismatch means the label was changed.
  3. Use the Module Authenticity page. Open longi.com/en/modules-authenticity, type in the product barcode (the string of numbers on the front or back of the panel) and press Submit. Type the address yourself; never use a link sent by the seller.
  4. Or scan the nameplate QR code. It must open a page on LONGi's own website (longi.com). If it opens any other website, stop: the QR sticker may be fake.
  5. Compare the result with the label. The model, power class (for example 585 W or 645 W) and certifications shown online must match the nameplate exactly.
  6. Save the result. Take a screenshot for each panel and keep it with your invoice; LONGi asks for the serial number and proof of purchase for any warranty claim.

LONGi Hi-MO 7, Hi-MO X10 and older Hi-MO model checks

Every LONGi model code starts with "LR" (for example LR8-66HGD-615M), and the code on the nameplate must appear on that model's official datasheet with the same wattage range. Busbars are the thin silver lines on the front of the cells; whether a model has them is one of the quickest checks.

ModelWhat you should seeQuick check
Hi-MO X10 (for example LR7-72HVH 630-650 W)Back-contact cells: no busbars on the frontFront busbars visible = not a genuine X10
Hi-MO 9Back-contact cells, no front busbarsSame as X10
Hi-MO 7 (around 580-620 W)N-type cells with thin front busbarsWattage on label within the datasheet range
Hi-MO 6 (for example LR5-72HTH 560-575 W)Front busbars; code starts LR5Wattage on label within the datasheet range
Hi-MO 5 (540-545 W)Older P-type panel, still sold as stockTreat a "new" Hi-MO 5 at a high price with suspicion

Also compare size and weight with the datasheet. A panel noticeably smaller or lighter than the datasheet cannot deliver the wattage on its label, whatever the sticker says.

Frequently asked questions

How do I verify a LONGi solar panel in Pakistan?

Enter the barcode on LONGi's Module Authenticity page (longi.com/en/modules-authenticity), or scan the QR code on the nameplate. Then confirm the model and wattage match the label.

Where is the serial number on a LONGi panel?

On the barcode sticker on the back of the panel. On most models a matching barcode is also visible under the front glass.

What is LONGi "One Module One Code"?

It is LONGi's system that gives every module its own anti-counterfeiting QR code, linking to that panel's type, power class, certification, electrical data and warranty.

Can a fake panel have a working QR code?

Yes. A QR sticker can point to any website, so check that the result opens on longi.com and matches the label.

Is the LONGi Hi-MO X10 easy to fake?

It is harder to fake convincingly, because genuine X10 cells have no front busbars. A panel sold as X10 with visible silver lines on the front is not genuine.

Can I verify LONGi panels after installation?

Yes, through the front-glass barcode, but it is much easier before installation. Ask for the serial list before panels go on the roof.
