Solar Panel Installation Cost in Pakistan: What You Pay Beyond the Panels

Short answer

The solar panel installation cost in Pakistan is the full price of a working system, not just the panels: inverter, battery (if hybrid), structure, cables, protection, labour, commissioning and grid paperwork all add to it. Panels are often less than half of the total. Knowing what each line covers is the best way to compare quotes fairly and spot one that has quietly left something out.

Why the panel price is only part of the cost

When people search "solar panel cost", they usually see a per-panel or per-watt price. That figure is real, but a panel on its own produces nothing useful for your home. It needs an inverter to convert power, a structure to hold it, cables and protection to connect it safely, and a team to install and commission it.

For today's equipment prices, see solar panel price, solar inverter price and lithium battery price. For complete-system figures, see solar system price in Pakistan. This page explains everything in between.

Getting net billing: two routes

Already have a 3-phase meter

Net billing meter and DISCO charges: about Rs 150,000 for a home

Single-phase home

Dedicated transformer first (at least about Rs 1 million), then a 3-phase meter, then the net billing meter

Approximate figures we see in Faisalabad and Lahore; DISCO demand notices vary by site.

Not every quote shows each line separately. Many companies, including ours, quote a complete system price. What matters is that the BOQ (bill of quantities) names the brand, model, quantity and specification of each item, so you can see exactly what is included.

The items people forget to compare

Mounting structure

The structure is the line most often cut to make a quote look cheaper. Thinner steel, fewer supports or poor galvanising can look fine on day one and fail after a few monsoons. Height also changes cost: an elevated structure that lets you use the roof underneath needs more material and engineering than a low frame.

At Solar Works Pakistan, structures are designed in-house by our engineering team, then fabricated and assembled on site by our own team. They carry a 3-year structure warranty. See L2 vs L3 vs elevated structures for which type suits which roof.

Cables

Undersized cable wastes power as heat and can be a fire risk. The right size depends on current and distance. Long runs from the roof to an inverter on the ground floor need thicker cable. We use GM Cable and Fast Cables; see our solar cable size guide.

Protection and earthing

DC breakers, AC breakers, surge protection devices and proper earthing protect your equipment and your family. They are a small share of the total but are skipped surprisingly often. We use Chint, Mora, Pixel, TOMZN and CNC protection; see breakers and protection and MC4 connectors and earthing.

Commissioning and handover

Commissioning means testing the system properly before switching it on for daily use: checking string voltages, polarity, insulation, protection settings and inverter configuration. Handover should include training on the inverter and monitoring app. A quote that does not mention commissioning should prompt a question.

Grid paperwork

If you want to export surplus power, you need a net-billing connection from your DISCO (such as FESCO or LESCO) and a bidirectional meter. Under the NEPRA (Prosumer) Regulations 2026, applicants reportedly bear interconnection costs and pay a concurrence fee per kW. These are usually listed separately from the system price. Our net metering and net billing guide explains the current rules.

What makes installation charges higher or lower

How to compare two installation quotes

  1. Put the quotes side by side and list every component by brand and model.
  2. Check the panel wattage and count add up to the same system size.
  3. Compare the inverter type and phase, not just the brand.
  4. Check structure height and material are stated.
  5. Check cable sizes and brands are stated.
  6. Confirm surge protection and earthing are included.
  7. Ask whether commissioning, transport and paperwork are in or out.
  8. Compare warranties: manufacturer's warranty per product, plus the installer's own structure and service warranty.
  9. Ask who handles after-sales and how quickly they respond.

A lower total that leaves out three of these items is not really lower.

How Solar Works Pakistan quotes installation

We quote every system after looking at your bills and, normally, a free site survey. Our engineers design the system in-house and send a detailed quotation and BOQ. Installation is done by our own teams, not outsourced crews, followed by testing, safe commissioning and handover training.

See our solar installation services page for the full process.

Net billing costs: what the DISCO side adds

Figures are approximate and vary by DISCO, substation and site; the DISCO's demand notice gives the exact amount. We prepare and submit the net billing application for you; see the net metering and net billing guide.

Frequently asked questions

What is the solar panel installation cost in Pakistan?

It depends on system size, type and brands. A complete installed system includes panels, inverter, structure, cables, protection, labour and commissioning, and a battery if hybrid. See our solar system price page or WhatsApp 0336 666 4321 for today's figure.

Are installation charges included in the solar system price?

In our quotes, yes: installation, testing and commissioning are part of the complete system price. Some companies quote equipment only and add labour separately, so always ask. DISCO fees for net billing are usually separate.

Why is one quote much cheaper than another?

Usually because of a different panel or inverter brand, a smaller battery, a lighter structure, thinner cable or missing protection. Compare BOQs line by line by brand, model and quantity.

Does the structure really affect the cost?

Yes. Structure height, material and roof type change the cost noticeably. A strong, well-designed structure is one of the best places to spend money, because it holds the panels through years of storms and heat.

Is net-billing paperwork included?

Grid-connection fees and the bidirectional meter are charged by the distribution company and are usually listed separately. Ask your installer exactly what they include.

Does cost per watt go down for bigger systems?

Generally, yes. Design, mobilisation and commissioning are partly fixed costs, so they are spread over more watts in a larger system. Battery-heavy hybrid systems are the main exception.
