What you will see
- No battery, battery communication fault or BMS lost messages.
- State of charge showing as blank or zero while the battery’s own display shows charge.
- The battery neither charges nor discharges.
Why it happens
A lithium battery’s battery management system (BMS) has to talk to the inverter over a communication cable. That conversation only works if the battery is on the inverter maker’s approved list, the right battery type is selected, the correct cable is used and both ends are seated.
After a power cut, a firmware update or someone moving the equipment, one of these can be disturbed.
What you can check yourself
- Check the battery breaker and power button are on and the battery display is awake.
- Look, without unplugging, that the communication cable is still clicked in at both ends.
- Note whether anything changed recently, such as an update, a relocation or a long outage.
What not to do
- Do not swap the communication cable for a network cable from home.
- Do not change battery type or protocol settings on the inverter.
- Do not run the battery without communication for long periods.
When to call us
- The alarm does not clear after the battery has been woken.
- This is a new battery or a new inverter.
