What you will see

Why it happens
When part of a panel is shaded or damaged, that cell stops producing and starts resisting the current from the others, turning it into heat. Common causes are persistent shading or droppings, micro-cracks from rough handling or hail, and failed bypass diodes in the junction box.
What you can check yourself
- Look for any shading or droppings that sit on the same spot every day.
- From a safe position, look for discoloured patches or bubbles.
- Clean away droppings and debris as part of normal washing.
