Short answer
Yes. A 1.5-ton inverter AC usually draws about 1–1.5 kW while it runs, so it needs roughly 2 kW of panels to run through the day with some margin. Running ACs at night means drawing from batteries or the grid, and battery backup gets used up quickly with ACs.
