Solar Panel Prices in Pakistan per Watt: How to Read and Use Them
Short answer
Solar panel prices in Pakistan are quoted per watt, and today's rate for mainstream N-type panels is WhatsApp for today's rate per watt. To get the price of one panel, multiply the per-watt rate by the panel's wattage: a 615 W panel at WhatsApp for today's rate per watt costs 615 × that rate. A complete installed system always costs more per watt than the panels alone, because the inverter, structure, cables, protection and installation are added on top. For today's rate, WhatsApp 0336 666 4321.
This guide explains how per-watt pricing works, how to convert it into a per-panel and a per-system figure, and how to use it to compare quotes fairly. For the full price list by wattage and brand, see our solar panel price in Pakistan page.
Why solar panels are sold per watt
A solar panel's job is to produce power, and its rated power is printed in watts (W) on the label. Traders and importers buy and sell panels by the watt because it lets them compare different sizes on equal terms. A 615 W panel and a 720 W panel are very different products, but both can be priced as "rupees per watt".
For you as a buyer, per-watt pricing does two useful things:
- It shows you whether a larger panel is really better value or just a bigger price.
- It makes quotes from different sellers comparable, even if they offer different wattages.
The watt figure used is the panel's rated peak power under standard test conditions, sometimes written Wp (watt-peak). Real output on your roof will be lower most of the time because of heat, dust and the sun's angle. That does not change how the price is calculated; it only matters when you estimate generation.

How to convert a per-watt price into a per-panel price
The formula is simple:
Price per panel = price per watt × panel wattage
Worked example using Rs 100 per watt, a round number chosen only to make the maths easy. It is not a market rate; today's rate is in the table above.
- At Rs 100 per watt, a 615 W panel costs 615 × 100 = Rs 61,500.
- At the same rate, a 720 W panel costs 720 × 100 = Rs 72,000.
The reverse is just as useful when a seller quotes per plate:
Price per watt = price per panel ÷ panel wattage
For example, suppose one seller offers a 615 W panel for Rs 63,000 and another offers a 650 W panel for Rs 65,000 (again, round numbers for illustration only). Divide each:
- 63,000 ÷ 615 = about Rs 102.4 per watt
- 65,000 ÷ 650 = Rs 100.0 per watt
The bigger panel is lower per watt even though each plate costs more. Always run this division on today's real quotes.
How to convert a per-watt price into a system panel cost
To estimate what the panels for a whole system cost:
- Pick the panel wattage you are being offered.
- Work out the number of panels: system size in watts ÷ panel wattage, rounded to suit the inverter strings.
- Find the actual array size: number of panels × panel wattage.
- Multiply by the per-watt rate to get the panel cost.
Example using 615 W panels for a 10 kW array, at the same illustrative Rs 100 per watt (not a market rate):
| Step | Calculation | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Panels needed | 10,000 ÷ 615 = 16.3, round up | 17 panels |
| Actual array | 17 × 615 W | 10,455 W (10.46 kW) |
| Panel cost (illustrative) | 10,455 × Rs 100 | Rs 1,045,500 |
Replace Rs 100 with today's per-watt rate to get a real figure. This covers the panels only. For panel counts at other wattages, see how many solar panels for a 5 kW or 10 kW system.
Panel price per watt vs system cost per watt
This is where most confusion comes from. A seller may advertise "solar at Rs X per watt", and it is not always clear whether that means panels only or a complete installed system. The two numbers are very different.
| Term | What it includes | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| Panel price per watt | The solar panels (solar plates) only | Comparing panel offers from traders |
| Supply-only kit per watt | Panels, inverter and sometimes battery, no installation | DIY or contractor purchases |
| Installed system cost per watt | Panels, inverter, structure, cables, breakers, surge protection, earthing, installation, testing and commissioning | Comparing complete project quotes |
| Hybrid system with battery, per watt | All of the above plus lithium storage | Homes and businesses needing backup |
The installed system cost per watt is always higher than the panel rate, because panels are only one part of the system. Our solar installation cost guide breaks down every item that sits between the panel price and the final quote, and the complete solar system price page shows package figures by size.
Which "watt" is the system priced on?
Ask this every time. A system per-watt figure is usually calculated on the panel (DC) capacity, not the inverter (AC) rating. A "10 kW system" might have a 10 kW inverter with 11 to 12 kW of panels. If one quote divides by the inverter size and another by the panel size, the per-watt figures will not match even if the systems are identical.
Why batteries spoil the per-watt comparison
A battery is sized in kilowatt-hours (kWh), not watts, and it can be a large share of a hybrid system's cost. Two "10 kW hybrid" quotes with different battery sizes cannot be compared per watt. Compare the battery separately on price per usable kWh, using our lithium battery price page as a reference.
Why system cost per watt changes with size
Some costs are fixed for every project: engineering design, a site survey, transport, mobilisation of the team, commissioning tests and paperwork. In a small system those fixed costs are spread over fewer watts, so the cost per watt is higher. In a larger system they are spread over more watts, so the cost per watt usually falls.
Other factors that move the installed cost per watt:
- Structure type. An elevated structure uses much more steel than a low roof frame.
- Roof type and access. RCC roofs, sheet roofs, ground mounts and difficult access all change labour and materials.
- Inverter type. Hybrid inverters cost more than on-grid inverters of the same size. See solar inverter prices.
- Phase. Three-phase systems use different inverters and protection from single-phase ones.
- Cable runs. Long distances between the roof, the inverter and the distribution board add cable cost.
- Protection and earthing quality. Proper DC breakers, surge protection and earth pits cost more than shortcuts, and are worth it.
When the lowest per-watt price is not the best buy
Per-watt price is a good starting point, but a very low rate can hide real problems:
- Grade-B, refurbished or counterfeit panels. A rate well below the market for the same model is a warning sign. See how to check genuine solar panels.
- Old technology. Older P-type stock can be cheaper per watt but loses more output in heat and over time. See N-type vs P-type panels.
- Older or discontinued models. Clearance stock may be fine, but matching or replacing a panel later can be harder.
- Missing paperwork. No model number, no invoice and no manufacturer's warranty in writing.
- Hidden scope cuts. A low "system per watt" can mean a thinner structure, undersized cables or AC breakers on the DC side.
Use our quotation comparison checklist to line up two quotes item by item.
How to compare per-watt quotes fairly: a checklist
- Confirm whether the figure is panels only, supply-only kit or installed system.
- Confirm the exact panel model and wattage, not just the brand.
- Confirm whether the system figure is divided by panel (DC) kW or inverter (AC) kW.
- Separate any battery and compare it per usable kWh.
- Check what the quote includes: structure type, cable sizes, breakers, surge protection, earthing.
- Check manufacturer warranties in writing for each product, plus the installer's own warranty.
- Check the date and validity of the quote, because rates move with the dollar and stock. Our guide on why solar prices change in Pakistan explains this.

Frequently asked questions
What is the solar panel price per watt in Pakistan today?
Today's rate for mainstream N-type panels is WhatsApp for today's rate per watt, and it varies by brand, wattage and technology. Rates move with the dollar, import costs and stock. WhatsApp 0336 666 4321 for the current rate on a specific model.
How do I calculate the price of one solar panel from the per-watt rate?
Multiply the per-watt rate by the panel's wattage. For example, at a round illustrative Rs 100 per watt (not a market rate), a 615 W panel would cost 615 × 100 = Rs 61,500. Use today's actual rate, WhatsApp for today's rate per watt, for a real figure.
Why is a complete system more expensive per watt than the panels?
Panels are only one part of a system. The installed price also covers the inverter, structure, cables, breakers, surge protection, earthing, installation and commissioning, and a battery if you choose a hybrid system. All of that is added on top of the panel cost.
Is a higher-wattage panel cheaper per watt?
Sometimes, but not always. Large-format panels can be slightly lower per watt, while premium back-contact lines are usually higher. Divide each panel's price by its wattage to compare.
Is system cost per watt calculated on the inverter or the panels?
It is usually calculated on the panel (DC) capacity, but sellers are not always consistent. Ask which figure was used before comparing two quotes.
Does the cost per watt go down for larger systems?
Usually, yes. Fixed costs such as design, mobilisation and commissioning are spread over more watts, so larger systems tend to cost less per watt. Site conditions and structure type still make a big difference.
Should I buy the panel with the lowest per-watt price?
Not without checks. A rate far below the market can point to grade-B, refurbished or counterfeit stock, or old technology. Confirm the exact model, verify the serial numbers and get the manufacturer's warranty in writing.
