What you will see

Why it happens
CAN and RS485 are only the wiring standards. On top of them, each inverter expects the battery to send specific data in a specific format, which is its protocol. The inverter maker tests particular battery models and firmware versions and publishes an approved list.
A battery that is not on that list may connect partly, not at all, or appear to work while sending the inverter the wrong information. That is the most risky outcome.
What you can check yourself
- Look for your battery model on the inverter manufacturer’s published compatibility list.
- Ask the seller for written confirmation that names both exact models.
- Keep the documentation with your system records.
What not to do
- Do not rely on matching voltages or matching port names as proof of compatibility.
- Do not accept “we will make it work” with modified cables.
