What you will see
- Backup lasts longer, but the same appliance combination still trips it.
- An AC, pump or machine still struggles to start.
- The displayed battery capacity increases while maximum output appears unchanged.
- Extra batteries are installed, but expected performance has not improved.
Why it happens
Two ratings answer different questions:
Energy capacity, in kWh: how much energy can be stored; usable energy helps determine runtime.
Power capacity, in kW: how much power the equipment can supply at a given moment.
Adding compatible battery capacity does not change the existing inverter’s rated backup output. Appliance starting demand and the inverter’s permitted overload behaviour still matter.
An approved expansion may increase available battery discharge power if the battery bank was the limiting component. That benefit depends on the complete configuration and its communicated limits; it cannot be assumed from the added battery’s capacity alone.
Three-phase systems also have model-specific limits on individual phases. More stored energy does not, by itself, change those limits.
Finally, ask for confirmation that the expanded bank has been commissioned and recognised correctly. Extra equipment being physically present is not sufficient evidence that the system is using it as intended.
Energy and power answer different questions
Energy, kWh: how long
More battery can extend runtime.
Power, kW: how much at once
The inverter’s backup rating stays the same.
An approved expansion can raise battery discharge power if the battery was the limit. Per-phase limits on three-phase systems do not change.
What you can check yourself
- Compare the original and expanded battery model lists and unit counts.
- Record whether runtime improved, maximum supported load improved, both improved or neither did.
- Save the warning shown when the problem appliance starts.
- Note which appliances were operating together and which backup circuits they use.
- Check the capacity or unit count shown in the normal monitoring screen, where available.
- For a Pylontech or any other battery expansion, send the exact models. Different product families need their own compatibility and commissioning checks.
What not to do
- Do not increase protection settings, fit a larger breaker or move appliance circuits yourself.
- Do not repeatedly attempt to start equipment that trips the backup system.
When to call us
- Contact us if an expansion has not met its documented purpose or the system still cannot start a required appliance. A load assessment can establish whether the constraint is battery power, inverter output, starting demand or circuit allocation.
Expansion reviews in Faisalabad and Lahore
Before expanding, tell our Faisalabad or Lahore team what you want: longer backup, more appliances at once, or both. The answer changes what is needed.
