What you will see

  • A gradual fall in daily totals over a few weeks.
  • A sharp drop after a dust storm.
  • Low output on hazy smog days in winter even with clear skies.

Why it happens

A film of dust blocks light before it reaches the cells, and bird droppings or leaves shade individual cells completely. Smog and haze reduce the sunlight arriving at the panels, which no cleaning can fix. Monsoon rain rinses loose dust but often leaves a muddy film behind.

What you can check yourself

  • Compare this week’s daily totals with the same week last year, or with a recent clean.
  • Look at the panels from a safe spot for visible dust, droppings or leaves.
  • Wash early in the morning or late in the evening with plain water and a soft brush or mop.

What not to do

  • Do not wash hot panels in the midday sun. The cold water can stress the glass.
  • Do not use detergents, abrasive pads or high-pressure jets.
  • Do not walk on the panels.

When to call us

  • Output stays low after a thorough wash.
