How much will the utility pay per unit I export?
Short answer
Since 9 February 2026, new connections are on net billing. Exported units are bought at close to the national average energy purchase price, currently around Rs 8–11 per unit. The units you draw from the grid are still charged at your normal slab tariff, which is several times higher. That makes each unit you use yourself worth far more than a unit you export.
