Solar Company in Bahawalpur: Prices and Installation
Short answer
The solar panel price in Bahawalpur today is WhatsApp for today's rate per watt for mainstream N-type panels, about WhatsApp for today's rate for a 615 W panel. What makes Bahawalpur different is its climate: summer highs near 48-50°C and frequent dust storms mean the system has to be designed for heat and dust, not just for wattage. Designing for Bahawalpur's desert heat
Bahawalpur district runs from the Sutlej river in the north to the Cholistan desert in the south and east. A district investment study by the Punjab government describes summers reaching about 48°C, frequent wind and dust storms, and very little rain. In May 2026, PDMA Punjab forecast highs of 47-50°C for Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan and the rest of the south during a heatwave.
Strong sun is good for generation. Heat is not: as panels get hotter, their voltage and power fall. These points matter more here than almost anywhere else in Punjab:
- Temperature coefficient. Compare the power temperature coefficient on each panel datasheet; a smaller loss per degree is better. N-type panels generally do better in heat than older P-type panels. See N-type vs P-type panels.
- Ventilation under the panels. A raised structure with an air gap lets heat escape. Panels packed flat against a hot roof slab run hotter and produce less.
- String design for hot and cold. Panel voltage rises on cold winter mornings and falls on hot afternoons. String lengths must keep the inverter inside its range in both, which matters in a district with a wide temperature swing.
- Inverter location. Inverters derate or trip when they overheat. Mount them in shade with clear airflow, never in direct afternoon sun or a closed metal box. Our guide to where to install your inverter and battery covers this, and lithium batteries need the same protection from heat.
- Cable sizing. Cables on a 70°C roof carry current less efficiently, so they must be sized for the real temperature.
Our guide to solar panels in Punjab summer heat explains the temperature effect in detail.
Dust, sand and storms
Dust is the second Bahawalpur problem. Fine desert dust settles on panels within days in dry months, and pre-monsoon storms can coat them overnight.
- Plan safe cleaning access from the start: walkways, a water point on the roof and a structure that lets someone reach every row without standing on panels. Our solar panel cleaning guide covers how often and how.
- Check water quality. Hard or salty bore water leaves deposits on glass. Use the cleanest water available and a soft brush; never scrape.
- Anchor for gusts. Storm winds lift panels from poorly fixed structures. Our structures are designed in-house and carry a 3-year Solar Works Pakistan structure warranty. See storms and lightning safety.
- Seal enclosures. Inverters, combiner boxes and breakers should have suitable ingress protection and closed cable entries so dust does not build up inside.
A note on the solar park
Bahawalpur is home to the Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park in the Lal Sohanra area of Cholistan, a utility-scale plant whose first phase was commissioned in 2015. It shows the sunshine the district receives. It is a government project and has nothing to do with rooftop pricing or net billing for homes and businesses.
Solar for Bahawalpur's ginning factories, flour mills and cold stores
The Punjab government's district study lists cotton ginning and pressing as by far the largest industry in Bahawalpur district, followed by flour mills and cold stores, with a smaller number of rice mills, oil mills and textile units. The Bahawalpur Industrial Estate adds further sites.
Cotton ginning and pressing. Ginning runs hard in the picking season and slows outside it. Gin stands, fans and the hydraulic press use large motors with heavy starting current, and lint and dust are everywhere. Solar suits the daytime season load, but two points need care: what happens to surplus in the off-season under net billing, and keeping lint away from inverters and panels. Lint is also a fire risk near electrical equipment, so inverter rooms must be enclosed and kept clean.
Flour mills. Steady daytime milling suits solar well; motor starting and demand charges are the main design issues. Our guide to solar for flour and rice mills covers them.
Cold stores. Compressors run through the hot day, matching solar output, but keep running at night. Our cold storage and ice factory guide explains compressor surge and storage options.
Many of these sites run generators through outages. A hybrid design with the right controller lets solar share the load with an existing generator safely; see solar and generator hybrid systems. We do not sell generators, but we integrate existing sets. These projects are handled through our industrial and commercial solar service. We do not publish client names.
Farms and tubewells
Canal-irrigated farms in Hasilpur, Ahmadpur East and Yazman ask about solar tubewells. Our solar tubewell and VFD guide explains sizing by horsepower and bore depth.
Solar Works Pakistan designs and installs solar for tubewells and farm buildings in Bahawalpur district.
MEPCO and net billing in Bahawalpur
Bahawalpur is supplied by MEPCO, which serves 13 districts of south Punjab and lists Bahawalpur among its operating zones. MEPCO applies NEPRA's national rules, set out in our net metering and net billing guide:
| Rule | What it means in Bahawalpur |
|---|---|
| Net billing since 9 February 2026 | New connections: imports at your tariff, exports credited at the national average energy purchase price, reported at about Rs 10-11 per unit at notification. |
| Existing agreements | Keep their terms until expiry; increasing capacity can move you to net billing |
| Size | Up to your sanctioned load, overall cap 1 MW |
| Who qualifies | Three-phase 400 V or 11 kV consumers |
| Approval | MEPCO approves up to 25 kW with no NEPRA fee; above 25 kW, NEPRA concurrence and a one-time Rs 1,000 per kW (25 kW rule) |
| Transformer | No new applications once solar on a transformer reaches 80% of its rating |
In August 2026 the federal government decided to privatise MEPCO in its current form, dropping an earlier proposal to split it into smaller companies. For now, nothing changes for Bahawalpur applicants. Our green meter and application guide lists the documents and step timelines.
Bahawalpur's long sunny days produce plenty of midday surplus, and under net billing exported units earn far less than imported units cost. Running ACs and pumps from solar by day, and adding a battery for evening cooling where it makes sense, keeps more of your solar in self-use.
Solar Works Pakistan prepares, submits and follows up the MEPCO net billing application on your behalf.
How a project works
For Bahawalpur customers:
- Send your bills on WhatsApp. Twelve months of bills, roof photos and the loads you want to run. For factories, add motor ratings, season dates and generator details.
- Remote review of units, sanctioned load and connection type, with an indicative size.
- Site survey, normally free, to check the roof, shading, structure, cleaning access and cable routes.
- In-house design and a detailed BOQ listing brand, model, quantity and warranty for every item.
- Installation by our own team, followed by testing, safe commissioning and handover.
After a complaint is registered, we target sending service personnel within 48 hours to begin diagnosis; distance and spare parts can affect the time to a final fix. Small projects are normally finished in about one week, subject to payment, equipment availability and site readiness. Panels, inverters and batteries carry the manufacturer's warranty per product. Our service warranty covers the first year under applicable project terms. See installation services.
Solar Works Pakistan was founded in 2021 and has served 300+ customers, including 50+ industrial clients, with power-generation heritage going back to the 1980s through our founder, Akram Ullah Khan.

Frequently asked questions
What is the solar panel price in Bahawalpur today?
Mainstream N-type panels are WhatsApp for today's rate per watt, about WhatsApp for today's rate for a 615 W panel. Prices follow the national market; WhatsApp 0336 666 4321 for today's rate.
Do you have an office in Bahawalpur?
No. Our own engineers and installation teams cover all of Punjab, starting with a WhatsApp review of your bills.
Does Bahawalpur's heat reduce solar output?
Yes. Panels lose some output as they get hotter, so on a 48°C afternoon they produce less than their rated wattage. Panels with a better temperature coefficient, an air gap under the panels and a shaded inverter reduce the loss.
How often should panels be cleaned in Bahawalpur?
More often than in central Punjab, especially in dry months and after dust storms. Check the panels and your monitoring app regularly and clean when output drops or dust is visible, using clean water and a soft brush.
Which DISCO covers Bahawalpur?
MEPCO, the distribution company for 13 districts of south Punjab, including Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan and Bahawalnagar.
Can a cotton ginning factory run on solar?
Solar can carry a large share of the daytime load in the ginning season. Motor surges, lint and fire safety, and surplus in the off-season all need careful design, so we size each site from its load data.
Can I still get net metering from MEPCO?
Not as a new applicant. Applications from 9 February 2026 come under net billing. Existing agreements keep their terms until they expire.
