What you will see

  • Charging works in the morning but slows around midday.
  • The battery remains below full charge despite available solar power.
  • A temperature or battery-protection message appears.
  • Charging improves later, when the room is cooler.

Why it happens

Battery charging can be restricted by temperature-related limits. Separately, an inverter can reduce its output or report an overtemperature condition when it cannot adequately lose heat. A battery warning and an inverter temperature warning therefore require different checks; the exact equipment determines the permitted conditions.

Direct sunlight, poor ventilation, unsuitable enclosures and obstructed clearances can affect the installation environment. A room used for storage after installation may no longer provide the space originally allowed around the equipment.

The time of day provides a useful clue, but does not prove heat is the cause. Record whether a temperature warning appears when charging changes. A sunny afternoon with low charging power needs assessment alongside the battery status, household or business load, and solar generation.

Two different heat limits

Battery warning

The battery restricts charging to protect itself within its temperature range.

Inverter temperature warning

The inverter reduces output when it cannot lose heat.

Room checks:
Direct sun on equipmentBlocked clearancesStored itemsVentilation not working

Smoke, swelling, hissing or a chemical smell: move away, keep others clear and seek emergency help.

Permitted conditions depend on the exact battery and Solis, GoodWe, Growatt or Huawei inverter. Do not touch the casing to judge heat.

What you can check yourself

  • Photograph the warning and any temperature reading available on the normal display.
  • Note when charging slows and whether it resumes without intervention.
  • Look from a safe distance for stored items obstructing the equipment or room ventilation.
  • Check whether an existing room ventilation or cooling system has stopped working.
  • Record whether direct sunlight reaches the equipment, and whether the problem began after a room alteration.
  • Do not touch the casing to judge its temperature. A photo of the surrounding space is more useful than a guess that the battery feels “too hot.”

What not to do

  • Do not open the battery, remove equipment covers, spray water, apply ice or bypass temperature protection.
  • Do not add an improvised fan inside a cabinet or alter a designed ventilation arrangement yourself.

When to call us

  • Arrange a check if temperature warnings repeat, charging stays restricted after normal room conditions return, or the installation space has changed. If there is smoke, swelling, hissing or an unusual chemical smell, move away, keep others clear and seek emergency help.
