Why does switching off the main breaker not make the whole solar system safe?

Why it happens

Solar panels can generate electricity in daylight, and batteries store energy. A generator or another inverter may provide an additional source. The actual installation determines which parts a particular switch disconnects.

OSHA’s solar guidance addresses hazardous-energy control during work. Isolation, control of energy sources and verification belong in the professional work method; the absence of a screen reading is not an electrical safety test.

Ask for drawings and labels that match the installation, including later additions. The operating handover should explain the purpose of customer-accessible controls without presenting them as permission to work on the wiring.
