What you will see
- ID069 on cold, clear mornings
- Appears after panels were added or replaced
Why it happens
Panel voltage rises as temperature falls. A string designed close to the limit in summer can go over it in winter.
Too much voltage can damage the inverter, so it refuses to run.
Cold mornings raise string voltage
Illustration. If the string is designed too close to the limit, winter mornings push it over.
What you can check yourself
- Note the time and temperature when it happens
- Note any change to panels or string layout
What not to do
- Do not add panels to a string yourself
- Do not keep restarting the inverter
When to call us
- Check string design against the inverter's input limit at low temperatures
- Re-string with fewer panels in series
Winter mornings
Clear December and January mornings in Punjab push string voltage up. Our engineers in Faisalabad and Lahore check string design for winter.
