What you will see
- An alarm message in the Soluna app.
- The battery LED blinking or yellow.
- One battery in a parallel bank not working.
- The app cannot connect the battery to Wi-Fi.
The three Soluna alarm levels
Soluna sorts battery alarms into three levels, from its Lyra 5K, 10K Pack and 32K Pack user manuals.
Soluna alarm levels
Minor
Power limited, no action
Moderate
Power limited, no action
Protection
Battery shuts down, call
| Alarm | What it means | Typical cause |
|---|---|---|
| Minor alarm (level 1) | Battery tells the inverter to limit charging or discharging | A reading such as cell voltage near its limit; no action needed |
| Moderate alarm (level 2) | Charging or discharging power is limited further | Same as level 1, closer to the limit; no action needed |
| Protection alarm (level 3) | Battery shuts down; LED blinking or yellow | A limit was reached: call for support |
| Wi-Fi connecting failure | Battery cannot join your network | Router on 5 GHz only; Soluna needs 2.4 GHz |
| Serial number not valid | App cannot set up the system | Registration issue: send us the serial |
| Battery not working in parallel | One battery does not join the bank | Communication or power cable, terminating resistor, address switch or firmware |
Why it happens
Minor and moderate alarms are part of normal battery management: the battery is asking the inverter to slow down, for example when it is nearly full or hot. A protection alarm means the battery has switched itself off to protect the cells.
When batteries are connected in parallel, a loose communication or power cable, a missing terminating resistor, a wrong address switch or old battery firmware can stop one battery from joining the bank. These are installer checks.
Soluna battery safe owner checks
- Read the alarm level in the Soluna app and on the inverter screen.
- For a minor or moderate alarm, let the system recover. Charging power may be lower for a while.
- For Wi-Fi problems, check that your router has a 2.4 GHz network.
- If the app says the serial number is not valid, do not keep retrying. Send us the serial number.
What not to do
- Do not open the battery cover or touch the power or communication cables.
- Do not change battery or inverter settings yourself.
When to call an engineer
- A protection-level alarm, or the battery has shut down.
- One battery in a parallel bank is not working.
- The battery needs a firmware update (done with Soluna's service tool).
