Which DISCO covers your district?

This is the first thing to check, because it decides where your net billing file goes.

DistrictDISCOTehsilsAlso covered by the same DISCO
GujratGEPCOGujrat, Kharian, Sarai Alamgir, Jalalpur JattanGujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal, Hafizabad, Wazirabad
Mandi BahauddinGEPCOMandi Bahauddin, Malakwal, PhaliaAs above
JhelumIESCOJhelum, Dina, Sohawa, Pind Dadan KhanRawalpindi, Chakwal, Attock

Jhelum sits next to Gujrat across the river, but its bills come from IESCO, not GEPCO. If you own property in both districts, expect two different offices and application routes, even though the national rules are the same. Our pages on Gujranwala and Sialkot cover the rest of the GEPCO area, and our Rawalpindi page covers IESCO's main city.

Gujrat: fan workshops and light engineering

Gujrat is best known for its electric-fan industry. A Pakistan Business Council study puts the Gujrat and Gujranwala regions together at close to 90% of the country's domestic fan manufacturing capacity, and the district also has furniture and other small and medium workshops. These units share a recognisable load profile:

Many workshops sit in older mixed-use buildings, with the factory below and the family above. Before panels go up, the roof slab needs checking; our guide on roof load and structural checks explains what we look at. Solar Works Pakistan handles workshop and factory projects through its industrial and commercial solar service, with in-house AutoCAD and structural design. We do not publish client names.

Jhelum: hills, wind and IESCO

Jhelum district is more varied than the flat plains further south. The Salt Range runs across it, with the Khewra salt mine near Pind Dadan Khan, and the land north of the range rises into the Potohar plateau. That changes three things for solar:

  1. Wind and storms. Hilltop and ridge sites, and open rooftops in Dina and Sohawa, catch stronger gusts. Structures need proper anchoring, and good earthing and surge protection matter in monsoon thunderstorms. See storms and lightning safety.
  2. Slope and orientation. Homes on sloping plots or terraces may not face due south. A slightly east- or west-facing array still works, with some loss; our guide to the best panel angle and direction for Punjab explains the trade-off.
  3. Shade from hills and trees. In valleys, a ridge can shade panels in the early morning or late afternoon, especially in winter when the sun is low. A site survey at the right time of day catches this.

Most of Jhelum's farming is rain-fed, so tubewell solar is less common here than in the canal districts, but where a bore is used for a farm or a hillside house, see our solar tubewell guide.

Mandi Bahauddin: rice country and farms

Mandi Bahauddin district, between the Jhelum and Chenab rivers, is a farming district where rice is widely grown alongside wheat. That brings two kinds of solar enquiry:

Solar Works Pakistan designs and installs solar for tubewells and farm buildings in Mandi Bahauddin and Gujrat districts.

Family homes managed from abroad

Across this region, many families arrange solar for a home while relatives living overseas pay for it or oversee it. Our guide to solar for your family home while you live abroad explains how to handle the survey, approvals and payments remotely.

GEPCO, IESCO and net billing

Both GEPCO and IESCO apply NEPRA's national rules. The detail is in our net metering and net billing guide; in short:

Because exports earn far less than imports cost, a Gujrat workshop running a day shift will use most of its solar on site, while a home that is empty during the day may benefit from a battery for evening use.

Solar Works Pakistan prepares, submits and follows up the GEPCO and IESCO net billing application on your behalf.

How a project works

Every project follows the same steps:

  1. Send data on WhatsApp: twelve months of bills, roof or shed photos, and for workshops a machine list with shift hours.
  2. Remote engineering review of units, demand, sanctioned load and connection type, with an indicative size.
  3. Site survey, normally free, to check the roof, shading, structure and cable routes.
  4. In-house design and a detailed BOQ with brand, model, quantity and warranty for every item.
  5. Installation by our own team, then testing, safe commissioning and handover, including the monitoring app.

After a complaint is registered, we target sending service personnel within 48 hours to begin diagnosis; distance and spare parts can affect the time to a final fix. Small projects are normally completed in about one week, subject to payment, equipment availability and site readiness. Panels, inverters and batteries carry the manufacturer's warranty per product. Our structures carry a 3-year Solar Works Pakistan structure warranty, and our service warranty covers the first year under applicable project terms. See installation services.

Solar Works Pakistan was founded in 2021 and has served 300+ customers, including 50+ industrial clients, with power-generation heritage going back to the 1980s through our founder, Akram Ullah Khan.

Frequently asked questions

What is the solar panel price in Gujrat today?

Mainstream N-type panels are WhatsApp for today's rate per watt, about WhatsApp for today's rate for a 615 W panel. The same national rate applies in Jhelum and Mandi Bahauddin. WhatsApp 0336 666 4321 for today's figure.

Is Jhelum under GEPCO or IESCO?

IESCO. Gujrat and Mandi Bahauddin are GEPCO districts, but Jhelum, with Rawalpindi, Chakwal and Attock, is supplied by IESCO. The NEPRA net billing rules are the same; the office and application route differ.

Do you have an office in Gujrat or Jhelum?

No. Our own engineers and installation teams cover all of Punjab, starting with a WhatsApp review of your bills.

Can a fan or electrical-goods workshop run on solar?

Solar can carry much of a day-shift workshop's load. Motor starting surges, phase balance and demand charges need careful design, so we size from your machine list and bills.

Does hilly ground in Jhelum make solar harder?

It adds design work rather than ruling solar out. Stronger winds need well-anchored structures, slopes may change the panel direction, and ridges can shade panels in winter. A site survey checks all three.

Can I still get net metering in these districts?

Not as a new applicant. Applications from 9 February 2026 come under net billing with GEPCO or IESCO. Existing agreements keep their terms until they expire.

What is the smallest system you install here?

Our projects start at about 6 kW. Send your bill and we will tell you honestly what size your load needs.
