What you will see

  • The app still displays the original battery capacity.
  • Fewer batteries appear in monitoring than are physically installed.
  • One new unit shows an alarm or remains inactive.
  • Backup duration has not increased under otherwise similar conditions.

Why it happens

Expansion requires more than connecting extra equipment. The supported configuration, communication, recognition and commissioning checks must all be completed. Dyness recommends checking charging, discharging, charge synchronization and monitoring accuracy after an expansion.

A capacity figure on one screen should therefore be treated as something to verify. Ask whether it represents the complete bank, one battery, nominal capacity or usable capacity. A photo of that screen, including its heading, is more useful than reporting a number without context.

Likewise, a full-charge percentage describes a proportion; it does not establish how much energy the expanded bank can deliver. Capacity and duration should be assessed using the appropriate energy measurement and actual load, rather than percentage alone.

If a unit is not participating, the reason needs to be identified. If all units are recognised, compare the commissioning results and outage conditions with the promised outcome. A larger bank still needs an opportunity to charge before its additional stored energy can be used.

Four steps from installed to usable

  1. 00Installed, on the invoice
  2. 01Recognised: unit count matches
  3. 02Communicating: no alarms
  4. 03Charged: given time to fill
  5. 04Usable backup, measured in energy
  1. 1Recognition: fewer units shown than installed.
  2. 2Communication: a new unit inactive or alarming.
  3. 3Charge: a larger bank needs to charge before its extra energy is usable.
  4. 4Measurement: percentage alone does not show capacity.
Check what the capacity screen represents: whole bank, one unit, nominal or usable. Applies to Dyness, Pylontech and other LiFePO4 banks.

What you can check yourself

  • Compare the invoice and handover list with the installed battery model labels.
  • Save the screen showing capacity, including its title and timestamp.
  • Record the installed and displayed unit counts, where the app provides them.
  • Photograph visible indicators on the original and added batteries without opening covers.
  • Note whether charging, backup duration or alarms changed immediately after the work.
  • Ask for the expansion commissioning record if you have not received it. Include any earlier screenshots so the before-and-after comparison uses the same screen and units.

What not to do

  • Do not manually increase a capacity setting to make the displayed figure look correct.
  • Do not disconnect batteries, change communication addresses or force a deep discharge to prove the added capacity.

When to call us

  • Request a commissioning review if the displayed bank differs from the installed equipment, a new unit remains inactive, or the documented improvement has not appeared. The installer should establish whether the issue concerns configuration, participation, reporting or usable energy.

Commissioning reviews in Faisalabad and Lahore

Ask for the expansion commissioning record. Our Faisalabad and Lahore teams can compare it with the installed equipment and the promised outcome.
