What you will see

  • A grid fault on the screen or in the app, often worded as grid over-voltage, under-voltage or grid lost.
  • Solar output drops to zero for a few minutes, then returns.
  • It clusters at certain times of day, such as evenings or around load-shedding changeovers.

Why it happens

Grid-tied and hybrid inverters are required to disconnect when grid voltage leaves a safe window. In many parts of Pakistan the voltage swings widely, especially at the end of a long feeder, near an overloaded transformer or where transformer taps are poorly set.

The inverter sees the swing, disconnects, waits for the grid to settle and reconnects. That waiting period is mandatory and is not a fault in itself.

What you can check yourself

  • Note the time and the exact wording of the fault each time it happens. A pattern tells us far more than a single event.
  • Ask a neighbour whether their lights dim or their stabiliser clicks at the same times.
  • Check whether it happens when heavy household loads start, such as several ACs or a water pump.
  • If your app shows grid voltage history, screenshot the day it happened.

What not to do

  • Do not ask anyone to widen the inverter’s grid limits. They are set to meet DISCO and NEPRA requirements, and changing them can put your connection and warranty at risk.
  • Do not keep switching the inverter off and on. It reconnects by itself.

When to call us

  • It trips several times a day for more than a few days.
  • Neighbours without solar see no voltage problems.
  • The inverter does not reconnect once the grid is back to normal.
