What you will see

  • Appliances lose power as clouds cover the sun, then recover later.
  • The inverter stays on, but its backup circuits lose supply.
  • It happens during load-shedding, or even when grid electricity seems available.
  • An overload, battery or grid warning appears at the same time.

Why it happens

During load-shedding, without a battery: some hybrid models support solar-only backup, but only when explicitly approved for the exact model, firmware and installation. The appliances then depend on the solar power available at that moment. If clouds cut production below their demand, the inverter may stop its backup output. Bright conditions earlier in the day do not guarantee enough power now.

During load-shedding, with a battery: the battery should cover the solar shortfall within the system’s limits. Supply may stop if the battery reaches its discharge cut-off, cannot deliver the power needed, or enters protection. An AC or pump starting can also exceed the backup capability. The installer should also check that the battery is detected and communicating correctly.

While grid electricity is available: a circuit set up to receive grid support should normally stay powered as solar falls, provided the grid is usable and the equipment stays within its limits. If it cuts out, the installer should check the grid connection, operating mode, protection status and circuit arrangement. Power elsewhere in the building does not prove the inverter is accepting grid power.

A cloud passes: who covers the shortfall?

Load-shedding, no battery

Only models approved for solar-only backup can run. If output drops below demand, backup may stop.

Load-shedding, with battery

The battery covers the gap, within its discharge and power limits.

Grid available

The grid should cover the gap. If circuits still cut out, get the setup checked.

Amber bars: solar output below what the appliances need. This happens with LONGi, Jinko or any other panels. Operating modes and limits vary between Solis, GoodWe, Growatt and Huawei hybrids.

What you can check yourself

  • Note the time, the cloud conditions and whether load-shedding was on.
  • Photograph solar power, load, battery status and grid status on the display while it is happening, if you can do so safely.
  • Keep the exact warning message, or a clear photo, before it disappears.
  • Note whether all backup circuits stop or only some, and whether a large appliance started at the same time.
  • Where safe, switch off non-essential heavy appliances and see whether interruptions recur under the lighter load.

What not to do

  • Do not change battery discharge limits, grid-protection settings or operating modes yourself.
  • Do not open electrical boards or disconnect battery cables.
  • Do not repeatedly restart the system to force it to run.

When to call us

  • Interruptions recur with a charged battery.
  • They happen while grid support should be available.
  • They continue after sunshine improves, or solar-only shutdowns keep repeating.

Cloudy and smoggy days in Faisalabad and Lahore

Monsoon cloud across Punjab, winter haze in Faisalabad and smog in Lahore change the light quickly. Whether your panels are LONGi, Jinko or another brand, a passing cloud cuts output within moments. A system meant to back up heavy loads through variable weather needs a battery and inverter sized for it, and our team can review that for your home or factory.
