What you will see

  • The UPS repeatedly changes between input power and its own battery.
  • It reports an input warning while other appliances keep working.
  • Its battery runs down despite the solar backup being active.
  • Connected computers or network equipment shut down.

Why it happens

A UPS checks the quality of its incoming supply. Depending on its design, it may reject power because of voltage, frequency, waveform distortion or rapid changes. Other appliances continuing to run does not establish that the supply meets that UPS’s input requirements.

The UPS also has its own limitations. Its battery condition, connected load and operating mode affect how it responds. A solar inverter and UPS should be assessed as a combination; their brand names or headline capacities alone do not confirm suitability.

Remember that the solar backup must supply the UPS’s connected equipment and any power used to recharge the UPS battery, plus conversion losses. That additional demand matters when several loads are running together.

  1. 1Input check: the UPS may reject a supply other appliances accept, and switch to its own battery.
  2. 2Extra demand: the backup must power the connected equipment, recharge the UPS battery and cover losses.

Assess the solar inverter and UPS as a combination. Brand names or headline capacities from Solis, GoodWe, Growatt, Huawei or the UPS maker do not confirm suitability.

What you can check yourself

  • Read the UPS’s displayed warning or identify its beep pattern using its own manual.
  • Note whether the problem happens on grid power, during changeover or throughout solar backup operation.
  • List everything connected to the UPS.
  • Record the UPS battery’s age and any replacement-battery warning.
  • If safe, shut down and switch off unnecessary connected equipment normally; note whether the behaviour changes.

What not to do

  • Do not remove earth connections, modify plugs, alter neutral wiring or disable protections to silence an alarm.
  • Do not assume that another UPS’s sensitivity settings are suitable for yours.

When to call us

  • Arrange a check if switching continues, the UPS cannot recharge, or essential equipment repeatedly shuts down. The solar supply, UPS specifications and UPS battery should be reviewed before recommending replacement equipment.

UPS and solar in Faisalabad and Lahore

Many homes and offices in Faisalabad, Lahore and across Punjab kept their UPS after adding solar. Send us both models and we will review the pair before you replace anything.

Send us

The solar inverter model, UPS model, warning details, connected-device list, and your city and area. Include whether the same UPS works normally on grid electricity.
