What you will see
- An appliance attempts to start, then stops.
- The inverter reports an overload when a motor or compressor starts.
- Several appliances work individually but cause a trip when used together.
- One group of circuits loses power while another continues operating.
Why it happens
Starting demand can be higher than normal running demand. The inverter’s backup output and available battery power must support that demand alongside the other connected loads. Backup ratings and permitted overload duration are specific to the model.
AC or refrigerator: compressor starting demand and other loads operating simultaneously.
Water pump: motor starting requirement and the actual pump application.
Machinery: starting method, operating sequence and the manufacturer’s supply requirements.
Several appliances together: combined demand and which circuits share the same backup supply.
In three-phase systems, each phase also has its own limit. Acceptable total demand does not establish that every phase is within its allowance. The permitted imbalance must be checked for the exact inverter.
Battery energy capacity and output power are different. More stored energy may extend runtime, but increasing battery capacity does not automatically raise the inverter’s backup output rating.
Starting is harder than running
On grid
The grid supplies the starting surge alongside everything else.
On backup
The start must fit the inverter’s backup rating and the battery’s power, together with other loads.
What you can check yourself
- Record which appliance was starting when the interruption occurred.
- Note what else was operating at that time.
- Photograph accessible equipment nameplates and inverter warnings.
- Check circuit labels or your handover load list to see whether the appliance was included in the backup design.
- Switch off nonessential loads normally, where safe, without repeatedly attempting to start a struggling motor.
What not to do
- Do not fit larger breakers, bypass overload protection or move fixed circuits yourself.
- Stop operating equipment that stalls, repeatedly attempts to start or makes an unusual sound.
When to call us
- Request a review before adding ACs, pumps or machinery to backup. Also contact us if an appliance that previously worked reliably begins causing interruptions under similar conditions.
Backup reviews in Faisalabad and Lahore
Summer ACs and water pumps are the usual reason for these trips in Faisalabad, Lahore and across Punjab. Ask our team for a review before adding them to backup.
