Do I need batteries?
Short answer
For most homes in 2026, yes. The reason is money, not technology. Under net billing, a unit stored and used at night saves you the full tariff, while an exported unit earns only the buyback rate. Batteries also give you backup during load shedding. If you mainly use power in the day and don't need backup, on-grid alone can still work.
