How does a Sungrow hybrid inverter handle load-shedding?
Short answer
When the grid goes off, a Sungrow hybrid switches its backup circuit to battery and solar power within a fraction of a second (Sungrow states under 10 milliseconds), so most lights, fans and routers carry on. Only appliances wired to the backup circuit get power.
Backup continues as long as the battery or panels have power. If the battery reaches its minimum level, backup stops and the inverter recharges the battery first when power returns. If the backup load is too high, for example an AC and a pump starting together, it protects itself and restarts after a short delay.
Sungrow says backup is not guaranteed in every situation and is not for life-support medical equipment. We help you decide which circuits go on backup.
