What you will see
- Code 10 during load-shedding on an SG-RS or SG-RT on-grid inverter
- Code 10 while the house has grid power
- Inverter starts again a few minutes after the grid returns
Why it happens
On-grid inverters are built to stop the moment the grid disappears. This is a safety rule, not a fault. Only a hybrid (SH series) with a battery and backup wiring can keep selected loads running.
If the grid is present but the inverter still reports an outage, it is not receiving the grid at its AC terminals: a tripped or switched-off breaker, a loose connection or a wrong terminal.
Code 10: normal or a problem?
Load-shedding
Expected. Line staff must not get solar power in the wires.
Grid is on in the house
Needs a check of the breaker and AC connections.
What you can check yourself
- Check whether the rest of the house has grid power
- Check that the inverter's AC breaker in the board is ON
- After the grid returns, give the inverter a few minutes before deciding it is stuck
- See our article on on-grid inverters stopping during load-shedding
What not to do
- Do not bridge or bypass anything to make an on-grid inverter run during load-shedding
- Do not connect a generator to the inverter output
When to call us
- Check AC terminals at the inverter for correct live and neutral and firm connection
- Check the AC breaker and any voltage protector in line
- Advise on adding a Sungrow hybrid or battery if you need backup
Load-shedding in Punjab
Many on-grid systems in Faisalabad and Lahore show code 10 every load-shedding hour, and that is expected. If you want backup, our teams can survey your system for a hybrid or battery upgrade.
