What you will see

  • The property imports electricity while the battery appears partly charged.
  • Grid use begins when a larger appliance starts.
  • The battery remains idle during a particular time of day.
  • The behaviour changed after a schedule or operating-mode adjustment.

Why it happens

The system may be preserving energy for backup, following a time schedule, or restricting discharge at a configured level. On supported Solis systems, reserve and operating-mode settings influence when stored energy is available for normal use.

The battery also has a permitted discharge rate. Where grid support is available, the grid may supply demand that the permitted battery and inverter contribution cannot cover. A useful amount of stored energy does not remove these power limits.

If battery communication fails or the battery is not detected, normal operation may be disrupted. An apparently charged battery should therefore be assessed alongside its current recognition and alarm status.

Brief imports during changing loads also need to be separated from sustained imports. Monitoring samples and the system’s response to load changes can show short-lived behaviour that does not describe an entire hour or day.

If only certain circuits are involved, identify them for the installer. The review should confirm which loads and meters are included in the system’s control arrangement before recommending changes.

What you can check yourself

  • Capture grid import, battery power, solar production and load with matching timestamps.
  • Read the normal operating mode and any visible reserve or schedule information.
  • Note whether the battery is discharging, idle or showing an alarm.
  • Record which larger appliances were operating when imports increased.
  • Compare a sustained period of grid use with the daily energy graph.
  • Tell us whether your priority is keeping energy for outages or using stored energy during normal grid supply. That helps check whether the current behaviour matches the agreed purpose.

What not to do

  • Do not remove the backup reserve, disable battery protection or change metering connections simply to make grid import disappear.
  • Avoid copying another installation’s settings.

When to call us

  • Arrange a review if sustained imports are unexplained, the battery is not recognised, or behaviour no longer matches the agreed operating mode. Include any recent configuration or equipment changes.

Operating plans in Faisalabad and Lahore

In areas of Faisalabad and Lahore with frequent load-shedding, keeping a reserve is often intended. Tell our team your priority and we will check the mode matches it.
