Why it happens
Net metering offsets exported units against imported units. Net billing pays for exported units at a lower rate and charges imported units at the full tariff. Which one applies depends on your application and agreement dates. In some cases, the wrong date was used to decide.
What you can check yourself
- Find your net metering application date and the date on your signed agreement.
- Compare the export line on your latest bill with an older one.
- Keep copies of every bill since your connection.

- Do not ignore it and pay month after month without raising it.
- Do not rely on a verbal promise. Get a complaint reference.
