What you will see
- A request to associate the plant with a service account.
- An unfamiliar person asking for passwords or verification codes.
- A proposed remote settings change without an explanation.
- Former staff or contractors retaining access after their role ends.
Why it happens
Solis publishes security guidance covering its cloud platform and data loggers. Monitoring access should be managed through the manufacturer’s supported security and account arrangements.
Verify the service request through an established contact channel. Ask which information is needed, whether control permissions are required and how any change will be recorded.
For business systems, identify who may authorise work and who needs notice of a possible interruption. After the task, confirm the access arrangement that should remain in place.
Before you grant access
- 01Verify through a known contact
- 02Agree what the task needs
- 03Grant the least access required
- 04Remove access afterwards
Never share passwords or one-time codes.
What you can check yourself
- Confirm the technician’s identity with the service provider.
- Review the requested organisation and permissions where visible.
- Record the agreed task and affected equipment.
- Ask for a report of any settings or firmware changes.
- Use supported invitations or authorisation methods when available. Keep ownership and account-recovery details under the control of the appropriate owner or business administrator.
What not to do
- Do not provide passwords or one-time codes to an unverified caller. Do not install unfamiliar remote-control software or expose the equipment directly to the internet simply because someone requests it.
When to call us
- Contact us when an access request is unclear, an unexpected change occurs or you want to review who can access your installation.
