What you will see

  • Code 84 alarm
  • App shows strange consumption or export figures
  • Zero-export or battery charging does not behave as expected

Why it happens

The CT has a direction. If it is clipped on the wrong way, or the meter's input and output wires are swapped, the inverter gets mirrored readings and makes the wrong decisions.

Diagram

The sensor has a direction

CT the right way

Import shows as import, export as export. Export limit works.

CT reversed

Readings are mirrored: odd consumption, export limit does not work. Code 84.

Applies to Sungrow systems with a smart meter or CT.

What you can check yourself

  • Compare the app with your utility meter reading over a day
  • Note whether the alarm appeared after a meter change or electrical work

What not to do

  • Do not open the meter box or move the CT yourself

When to call us

  • Check CT direction and meter wiring
  • Check the existing-inverter power setting if another inverter shares the system
  • Verify readings after correction

After a meter change

This often appears after FESCO or LESCO replaces the meter and wiring gets moved. Our teams can recheck the CT and meter for you.
