What you will see
- A steady hum that rises and falls with output. This is normal.
- Fans that run harder in summer. This is normal.
- Rattling, grinding, repeated clicking or a buzz louder than before. These need a look.
Why it happens
Inverters contain transformers and chokes that hum under load, and fans that speed up with temperature. A worn fan bearing, dust build-up, a loose mounting or a failing internal part changes the sound.
Hybrid inverters often click as relays switch between grid, solar and battery. Occasional clicks are normal. Rapid, repeated clicking is not.
What you can check yourself
- Note whether the noise follows output, time of day or temperature.
- Check that the inverter is firmly fixed to the wall and nothing is touching it.
- Record a short video with sound.
What not to do
- Do not open the case or poke into the fan openings.
- Do not mount anything on the same thin partition to dampen it.
