What you will see

  • Lower output from panels near the raised ridges, especially in winter.
  • Morning or afternoon notches in the curve.
  • Panels that are never cleaned because they cannot be reached.

Why it happens

The raised glazing on each tooth throws a shadow that lengthens as the sun gets lower in winter. Panels in that shadow drag down their whole string. Without walkways, cleaning crews either skip panels or walk on them.

What you can check yourself

  • Look at the array at 10am and 3pm in winter for shadows from the ridges.
  • Check the string values in the app for strings that are consistently lower.
  • Note which panels are skipped during cleaning.

What not to do

  • Do not let staff walk on panels or on roof glazing.
  • Do not rearrange panels yourself.
