What you will see

  • Panels or rails that rattle or move in strong wind.

Why it happens

Wind pushes up under tilted panels, and the whole structure depends on its footings and fixings. Rust, loose bolts, weak footings or a structure that was never designed for the roof all reduce how much wind it can take.

What you can check yourself

  • Before the season, look at every footing and base plate you can see safely.
  • Look for rust stains, cracks and gaps.
  • Clear loose objects from the roof that could be blown into the panels.

What not to do

  • Do not go onto the roof during a storm or high wind.
  • Do not tighten or modify structural fixings yourself.

When to call us
