JinkoSolar vs LONGi: Which Panel for Your Roof?

Short answer

In the Jinko vs LONGi decision, neither brand is better for every roof. Choose LONGi's back-contact panels (Hi-MO X10 class) when roof space is tight or part of the roof is shaded; choose JinkoSolar's Tiger Neo TOPCon panels when you have open roof space, want a bifacial panel on an elevated structure, or want the best price per watt in a common size. Both are large, established manufacturers, and a genuine panel from either, correctly designed into your system, will serve you well. The real differences are in cell technology, shade behaviour and how each fits your roof and structure.

This guide does not repeat our brand pages. For models and prices of each, see JinkoSolar panels and LONGi panels.

The core difference: TOPCon vs back-contact

Most of the Jinko vs LONGi question comes down to one design choice.

What this means on your roof:

PointJinkoSolar Tiger Neo (TOPCon)LONGi Hi-MO X10 (back-contact)
Front appearanceFine lines visibleUniform, no front lines
Efficiency at the top of the rangeAbout 24.8% for the latest Tiger Neo 3.0About 24.8% for Hi-MO X10
Behaviour in partial shadeStandard; relies on bypass diodes and good layoutLONGi claims much lower shading losses than TOPCon
Bifacial versionsWidely available, double-glassMainly sold as monofacial for rooftops; bifacial variants exist
Heat (temperature coefficient)About -0.26 to -0.30%/°C depending on generationAbout -0.26%/°C claimed
Price per wattUsually competitiveUsually a premium for the technology

Two things stand out. First, at the top of each range the headline efficiency is now close: both makers announced about 24.8% for their newest large panels. Second, the gap that remains is about where each technology earns its keep, not which is "stronger". For a deeper technical look, read TOPCon vs HJT vs back-contact panels.

Hi-MO back-contact and TOPCon

Both are Tier 1; pick by wattage, stock and price on the day.

Where LONGi usually wins

Small or broken-up roofs

On a 5 or 10 marla house where water tanks, stairs and parapets eat into the roof, every square metre counts. A back-contact panel puts slightly more watts into each panel position. That can mean one or two more panels' worth of output from the same roof.

Roofs with partial shade

LONGi's shade claim is the most practical difference between the two brands. If a water tank, a neighbour's wall or a tree shades part of your array for some hours, a panel designed to lose less in partial shade helps. It does not cancel shade, and a good layout still matters more. See how shading cuts solar output.

Visible roofs

The clean front of a back-contact panel looks uniform. Some homeowners care about that on a roof seen from the street.

Where JinkoSolar usually wins

Open roofs and price per watt

On a large flat roof or a factory shed with plenty of space, you do not need maximum watts per square metre. You need the lowest cost per watt from a genuine, well-made panel. Tiger Neo is widely stocked in common sizes, so it often wins here. Compare like with like using solar panel prices per watt.

Elevated structures over light roofs

Tiger Neo comes in many bifacial double-glass versions. Raised high over a white or light roof, the rear side collects reflected light. Whether that gain is worth the extra cost depends on height and surface; see bifacial gain on white roofs and elevated structures and our guide to L2, L3 and elevated structures.

Easy matching and replacement

Because Tiger Neo is sold in large volumes in standard formats, it is easier to match a panel later if you expand or need a replacement in the same string. For the newest generation, see JinkoSolar Tiger Neo 3.0 explained.

Heat: does either handle Punjab summers better?

A panel's temperature coefficient tells you how much power it loses for each degree above 25°C cell temperature. On a June afternoon in Punjab, cells can run far hotter than the air.

Both brands' current N-type panels have good coefficients, and the newest generations of each quote similar figures. The difference between them is small compared with the effect of airflow under the panels. A panel mounted with a gap for air to move will run cooler than the same panel flat on a hot roof. Read solar panels in Punjab summer heat for what you can control.

Example arithmetic (illustrative only): if a 600 W panel has a coefficient of -0.30%/°C and its cells reach 65°C (40 degrees above 25°C), it loses about 40 × 0.30% = 12% of rated power at that moment. At -0.26%/°C, the loss is about 10.4%. That 1.6-point difference is real, but a badly ventilated mounting can cost more than that.

Size and format: check before you choose

Both brands now sell large panels (around 2.3 to 2.4 metres long for the 650 W+ class) alongside standard 575-620 W sizes. Before you fix on a model:

  1. Measure your roof layout, not just the area. A larger panel can leave awkward gaps.
  2. Check the structure. Large panels catch more wind and weigh more; the frame, clamps and anchors must suit them.
  3. Check the inverter. Larger panels carry more current, which must fit the inverter's input limits.

Our guide to 600 to 750 watt panels covers this in detail. If you are deciding between LONGi models, see Hi-MO X10 vs Hi-MO 7.

How Solar Works Pakistan chooses between them

We supply both brands and do not push either. Our in-house engineers survey the roof, check shade through the day, measure the layout and then compare Jinko and LONGi options on watts per roof, price per watt, structure and inverter fit. The quotation names the exact model, quantity and warranty. We are a Faisalabad-headquartered solar EPC, engineering and trading company, founded in 2021, with 300+ customers and 50+ industrial clients, designing systems from about 6 kW upward. Frequently asked questions

Is Jinko or LONGi better?

Neither is better for every roof. LONGi's back-contact panels suit small or partly shaded roofs; JinkoSolar's Tiger Neo TOPCon panels often give better price per watt on open roofs and offer more bifacial choice. Both are major manufacturers.

Is LONGi Hi-MO X10 worth the extra cost over Jinko Tiger Neo?

It can be if your roof is small or partly shaded, because you get more output from the space you have. On a large, unshaded roof, the extra cost per watt is harder to justify. Compare both on price per watt for your exact layout.

Do LONGi panels work better in shade?

LONGi says its HPBC 2.0 panels lose much less power under partial shade than TOPCon panels. This helps on roofs with tanks or walls nearby, but avoiding shade in the layout matters more than any panel feature.

Which handles heat better, Jinko or LONGi?

Their latest panels quote similar temperature coefficients. In practice, airflow under the panels and the mounting height affect heat losses more than the brand difference.

Can I mix Jinko and LONGi panels in one system?

You can use both brands in one system only if each string uses one model and each string is matched to its own inverter input. Never mix different panels in the same string.

Which is the better solar plate for a factory roof?

On a large shed, both work well in large-format versions. The choice usually comes down to price per watt on the day, structure design and inverter string sizing.

How do I know the Jinko or LONGi panel is genuine?

Check the serial number on the manufacturer's own website, typed in yourself, and match it to the label and your quote. Our genuine panel guide explains both checks.
