Chiniot: solar for furniture workshops and showrooms
Chiniot is known across Pakistan for carved wooden furniture, much of it made from sheesham in small and mid-sized workshops, with showrooms selling to buyers from other cities. Much of the carving is still done by hand, but most workshops also run saws, planers, sanders, dust extractors and spray booths. That mix shapes a solar design in three ways.
- Daytime machine loads. Workshops work in daylight hours, which matches solar output well. Motors on saws and planers draw a high current when they start, so the inverter must be sized for those surges as well as the running load.
- Three-phase supply. Larger workshops usually have three-phase machines. A three-phase inverter, sized from the actual load, avoids unbalanced phases; see three-phase vs single-phase inverters.
- Wood dust and finishes. Fine sawdust and the solvents used in polishing and lacquering mean equipment placement matters. Keep inverters, batteries and DC isolators out of the dust zone and away from spray areas, in a clean, ventilated room with proper earthing. Our guides on where to install the inverter and battery and earthing and surge protection explain why.
Showrooms are closer to shops: lighting, fans and air conditioning through business hours. Our page on solar for shops, plazas and commercial buildings covers that load type.
Jhang: agro-processing, mills and farmhouses
Jhang is a large farming district on the Chenab, and much of its business load comes from processing what the land grows: flour and rice milling, cotton ginning and other agro units, plus markets, schools and clinics in the city.
- Mills and ginning units run big motors, often seasonally. A design that looks right in peak season can leave a lot of surplus in the quiet months, and under net billing surplus earns much less than the units you buy. Our solar for rice and flour mills guide works through this.
- Generators are common at these sites. We do not sell generators, but we integrate existing sets into hybrid systems with the right controls.
- Larger plants go through our industrial and commercial solar process, with in-house AutoCAD design and structural design.
Climate and roofs in both districts
Summers in Jhang and Chiniot are long and very hot, and both sit close to the Chenab, so the monsoon brings heavy rain, humidity and occasional storms.
- Heat. Panels lose output as they get hotter. N-type panels with a lower temperature coefficient, and a structure that leaves an air gap under the panels, reduce the loss. See solar panels in Punjab summer heat.
- Storms and lightning. Structures need proper anchoring and the system needs surge protection and earthing. See wind, storms and lightning safety.
- Roof types. City houses are mostly RCC slabs. Workshops and mill sheds often have sheet roofs or older brick roofs, which our engineers check before deciding on the fixing method.
FESCO rules for Jhang and Chiniot
Both districts are supplied by FESCO, the same DISCO as Faisalabad; FESCO lists Jhang and Chiniot among its districts. Applications go to your local FESCO office under NEPRA's national rules. In brief, from our net metering and net billing guide:
| Point | What it means for you | |
|---|---|---|
| Net metering closed to new applicants on 9 February 2026 | New connections get net billing: imports at your tariff, exports credited at the national average energy purchase price (reported at about Rs 10-11 per unit at notification). | |
| Existing agreements | Keep their old terms until expiry; changing capacity can move you to net billing | |
| Size cap | Solar capacity up to your sanctioned load | |
| Connection type | Three-phase 400 V or 11 kV consumers | |
| Approval | FESCO approves up to 25 kW with no NEPRA fee; above 25 kW, NEPRA concurrence and a one-time Rs 1,000 per kW (25 kW rule explained) | |
| Transformer | No new applications once solar on the transformer reaches 80% of its rating | The documents and timelines are in our green meter and FESCO application guide. |
Solar Works Pakistan prepares, submits and follows up the FESCO net billing application on your behalf.
How a project works
Every project follows the same steps:
- Send twelve months of bills, roof or shed photos and a list of machines on WhatsApp.
- Our engineers review your units, sanctioned load and connection type remotely.
- We visit for a site survey, which is normally free.
- We design in-house and send a detailed BOQ with brand, model, quantity and warranty for every item. Our guide to comparing solar quotations shows what to check.
- Our own team installs, tests, commissions and hands over the system.
After a complaint is registered, we target sending service personnel within 48 hours to begin diagnosis. Small projects normally take about one week, subject to payment, equipment availability and site readiness. Panels, inverters and batteries carry the manufacturer's warranty per product; our structures carry a 3-year Solar Works Pakistan structure warranty, and our service warranty covers the first year under applicable project terms. More on our installation services page.
Solar Works Pakistan was founded in 2021 and has served 300+ customers, including 50+ industrial clients.

Frequently asked questions
What is the solar panel price in Jhang and Chiniot?
The same national rate as Faisalabad: WhatsApp for today's rate per watt for mainstream N-type panels, about WhatsApp for today's rate for a 615 W panel. WhatsApp 0336 666 4321 for today's rate.
Do you have an office in Jhang or Chiniot?
No. Our own engineers and installation teams cover all of Punjab, starting with a WhatsApp review of your bills.
Can a furniture workshop in Chiniot run on solar?
Yes, for much of its daytime machine load, if the inverter is sized for motor starting currents and the equipment is kept away from sawdust and spray areas. We design each workshop from its machine list and bills.
Which electricity company covers Jhang and Chiniot?
FESCO covers both, as well as Faisalabad, Sargodha, Toba Tek Singh, Mianwali, Khushab and Bhakkar.
Is net metering still available in Jhang?
Not for new applicants. Since 9 February 2026, new solar connections come under net billing, so systems should be sized mainly for your own daytime use.
Do you install small 2-3 kW systems?
Our projects start at about 6 kW. Send your bill and we will explain what size your load actually needs.
