Why it happens
Schneider Electric describes installations where solar reduces active power drawn from the grid while reactive demand remains. In that situation, power factor at the grid connection can worsen even though purchased active energy falls.
The result depends on the loads, compensation equipment, inverter capabilities and control arrangement. It is not an unavoidable fault in every solar installation.
An engineer should assess measurements over representative operating conditions and check any existing compensation system. The tariff’s actual requirements must be confirmed separately; a threshold quoted for a foreign example should not be copied into a Pakistan billing assessment.

What not to do
- Do not change the inverter’s power-factor setting, add capacitors or bypass a controller based on online advice. Do not assume that correcting one displayed value guarantees acceptable operation throughout the day.
