Can solar equipment be restarted after floodwater or roof water gets inside?

Why it happens

DOE describes floodwater entering electrical enclosures through cable routes and the severe damage associated with submerged equipment. The apparent water level outside one cabinet may not reveal every affected component.

The assessment should identify the exposure, affected equipment and manufacturer’s requirements. A device briefly powering on is not proof that internal contamination or damage has been resolved.

The water-entry cause also needs attention. Roof repair, drainage work or a revised equipment location may be required alongside electrical work. Replacing a component without investigating the route of entry can leave the problem unresolved.
