Why is my electricity bill still high after installing solar?

A high bill needs to be separated into two questions: how much electricity the property used from the utility, and how that usage and other charges were billed. Solar generation, lower grid imports and a lower payable amount are related, but they are not interchangeable measurements. Begin with the complete bill and matching records for its actual reading period.

Why it happens

For the technical review, compare generation and grid-import records over the same dates. Note occupancy, operating hours and appliances that changed after installation.

For the billing review, use the tariff, supply arrangement and agreement applicable to that account. Do not assume a quoted export value or settlement method applies to every customer in Punjab or Karachi.

What you can check yourself

Gather the current bill and several earlier complete bills.
Match monitoring reports to the meter-reading dates.
Identify new loads and longer operating hours.
Separate current charges from previous balances and adjustments.
A before-and-after comparison should also identify changes in tariff or billing treatment. Otherwise it can attribute a financial change entirely to system performance.

What not to do

Do not diagnose panel failure from the payable amount alone. Do not assume exported energy automatically cancels every charge. Avoid withholding payment based solely on an app comparison; raise questions through the utility’s official process.

When to call us
