Our solar inverter faults guide covers faults on every brand. For Huawei models and prices, see Huawei inverters and LUNA batteries; for the home system itself, see Huawei SUN2000 and LUNA2000 for homes.
How Huawei inverter alarm codes work
Huawei's alarm reference gives every alarm four pieces of information:
- Alarm ID and name, for example 2051 Abnormal Residual Current.
- Severity. Major alarms usually stop the inverter; minor alarms and warnings may only limit it.
- Cause ID. Some alarms list several causes. For a DC arc fault, for example, the cause ID tells you which PV string is affected.
- Suggested measures, many of which are for qualified technicians, not owners.
Most residential SUN2000 inverters have only LED indicators, not a text screen, so the FusionSolar app is where you read the alarm. Huawei's manual for the SUN2000 home inverters groups LED signals into DC-side and AC-side environmental alarms, plus a steady red light for a hardware fault.
Numbering differs between families. The IDs below are from Huawei's current inverter alarm reference. Older large models such as the SUN2000-30KTL to 40KTL use a different scheme: there, Low Insulation Resistance is alarm 313 and Abnormal Grid Voltage is alarm 301. Always check the manual for your model.

Grid alarms, including the huawei grid overvoltage alarm
| Alarm ID and name | Severity | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| 2033 Grid Undervoltage | Major | Grid voltage below the lower limit, or a dip lasted longer than the inverter's low-voltage ride-through time |
| 2034 Grid Overvoltage | Major | Grid line voltage above the upper limit |
| 2036 Grid Overfrequency | Major | Grid frequency above the local standard |
| Grid Loss / Grid Failure | Not stated | No usable grid; the inverter restarts by itself once the grid returns |
For 2034, Huawei says an occasional alarm clears by itself. If it is frequent, the grid voltage should be measured, and protection limits changed only with the power company's consent. In Punjab, a huawei grid overvoltage alarm around midday is often voltage rise caused by your own export: see inverter tripping on high grid voltage. During load-shedding, a grid-loss alarm is expected; see inverter grid fault during load-shedding.
DC (solar side) alarms
| Alarm ID and name | Severity | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| 2062 Low Insulation Resistance | Major | Too little resistance between the PV array (or battery rack) and earth |
| 2051 Abnormal Residual Current | Major | Insulation to earth dropped while the inverter was running |
| 2009 String Short-Circuited to Ground | Major | A PV string has a short or very poor insulation to ground |
| 2003 DC Arc Fault | Major | Arcing or a poor contact in a string cable; the cause ID gives the string number |
| High String Input Voltage | Not stated | String voltage too high for the inverter (shown as a DC-side alarm) |
| String Reverse Connection | Not stated | A string connected with reversed polarity; engineer only |
Huawei 2062 low insulation resistance
This is the Huawei alarm Punjab owners ask about most. Huawei gives two causes: a short between the PV array and ground, or damp conditions weakening insulation. On hybrid systems it can also come from the battery rack. It often shows on foggy winter mornings or after rain, then clears as the panels dry. A healthy array should not do this, so the weak spot needs finding. Huawei's reference does allow a technician to adjust the insulation protection setting in some cases; owners should never lower it. Our inverter isolation fault guide explains the safety reasons.
DC arc fault and high string voltage
For 2003 DC Arc Fault, Huawei's home inverter manual says the alarm clears by itself if it happens fewer than five times in 24 hours; after that the inverter locks and the alarm must be cleared manually in the app. Treat repeated arc alarms as a fire risk.
High string voltage is a design issue, usually worst on cold mornings: see PV over voltage error.
Temperature alarms
| Alarm ID and name | Severity | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| 2063 Overtemperature | Minor | Poor ventilation, high surrounding temperature or a device fault |
In summer, check shade and airflow. If the alarm continues with good ventilation, call your installer. See inverter overheating.
Backup overload (hybrid)
Huawei's home inverter manual describes an off-grid overload signal when backup loads are too large. The inverter retries automatically, then waits longer between attempts after repeated failures. Switch off heavy loads first; see inverter overload.
Huawei LUNA2000 battery alarm list
The LUNA2000-(5-30)-S0 battery manual lists alarms in the 3000 range. Newer LUNA2000 modules sold in Pakistan may use different IDs.
| Alarm ID and name | Severity | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| 3000 Low battery DC input bus voltage | Major | Battery switch off, low bus voltage or a cabling problem |
| 3002 Power control module overtemperature | Minor | Heat or poor ventilation |
| 3004 Power control module reversely connected | Major | Battery cables reversed at the inverter |
| 3005 Power control module DC switch OFF | Warning | The battery DC switch is off |
| 3007 Battery expansion module cable disconnected | Major | Loose or faulty power cable between modules |
| 3008 Battery expansion module overtemperature | Minor | Heat or poor ventilation |
| 3009 Battery expansion module low temperature | Minor | Too cold, or a module fault |
| 3010 Battery expansion module short circuit | Major | Short in a module or damaged cable; engineer only |
| 3011 Battery expansion module undervoltage | Warning | Modules low; they recharge when solar or grid charging is available |
On the battery, a steady red running light means a faulty module and fast-blinking red means an environment alarm such as temperature.
Quick-check table
| Symptom | Likely cause | Safe owner check | Call an engineer if... |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2062 on damp mornings | Water at a weak connector or cable | Note weather and time; view wiring from a safe spot | It persists after drying, or appears daily |
| 2034 on sunny afternoons | Voltage rise at your connection | Note times and voltage in the app | It happens most days |
| Grid Loss with WAPDA on | Tripped AC breaker or voltage protector | Look at the breaker and protector | A breaker trips again after one reset |
| 2063 in summer | Heat, sun or blocked airflow | Check shade and space around the unit | It continues after airflow improves |
| 3005 on the battery | Battery DC switch off | Check the switch position only | It does not clear once on |
| 2003 or 3010 | DC arcing or a short | Switch off by the manual's sequence | Always |
Safe owner checks, step by step
Safety box. Panels make DC whenever there is daylight, and LUNA2000 batteries hold high-voltage DC. Never open the inverter or battery, never pull MC4 connectors or battery cables. If you smell burning, see smoke or water inside equipment, or feel a shock from metal, switch off in the order your manual gives, keep away and call a qualified engineer. See burning smell from inverter.
- Open FusionSolar and screenshot the active alarm with its ID, name, severity, cause ID and time. Check the alarm history too.
- Note the inverter and battery models from the labels.
- Check the indicator lights and note the colour and whether they blink or stay on.
- Check the grid, the AC breaker and any voltage protector.
- Note the pattern: morning, midday, rain, load-shedding, or when a big load starts.
- Restart once in the correct order. Huawei's measures for several alarms involve switching the AC and DC switches off and waiting five minutes before switching on. Use the exact sequence in your manual; see how to restart a solar system safely.
- If the app shows offline but the lights look normal, the system is probably working; see solar app offline.
What an engineer will check
- 2062, 2051, 2009: insulation resistance of each string and of the battery circuit, PE (earth) connection, connectors, junction boxes and cable damage.
- 2033, 2034, 2036: voltage and frequency at the inverter and meter, AC cable size and joints, grid code setting, and whether DISCO approval is needed to change limits.
- 2003: each string's connectors and cables, using the cause ID to find the string.
- 2063: location, ventilation and loading.
- Battery alarms: module cables, DC switch, temperature, firmware and the battery log, then a manufacturer claim if a module is faulty.
How to prevent repeat alarms
- Keep the inverter and battery shaded and ventilated.
- Protect DC cables from sharp edges, sun damage and rodents.
- Use properly crimped, matched connectors.
- Wash panels gently, never jetting water at connectors.
- Keep firmware updated through your installer.
- Size strings for cold-weather voltage at design stage.

Frequently asked questions
What is alarm 2062 on a Huawei inverter?
2062 is Low Insulation Resistance: the PV array, or on some systems the battery rack, has too little insulation to earth. It often appears when the array is damp. If it continues after drying, an engineer must test the strings.
Why does my Huawei inverter show Grid Overvoltage?
Alarm 2034 means grid voltage went above the inverter's limit. Occasional alarms clear by themselves. If it happens most sunny days, ask an engineer to check voltage rise and the AC cable.
Where can I see Huawei SUN2000 error codes?
In the FusionSolar app, under the alarms for your plant or device. Most home SUN2000 models only show coloured lights on the unit itself.
What does a red light on a Huawei LUNA2000 battery mean?
Steady red on a module's running light means that module is faulty; fast-blinking red means an environment alarm such as temperature. Check the app for the alarm ID and call your installer.
How to clear a DC arc fault on a Huawei inverter?
Do not clear it until the cause is found. After repeated arc alarms the inverter locks, and it should be cleared in the app only after an engineer has checked the string named by the cause ID.
Can I change Huawei protection settings myself?
No. Grid and insulation limits protect people and the grid. Huawei says grid limits should change only with the power company's consent, and any change should be made by a qualified technician.
Do you service Huawei systems installed by other companies?
Yes, we can inspect other installers' Huawei systems across Punjab as a chargeable service. Send the alarm screenshot and models on WhatsApp 0336 666 4321 first.
