Inverter display is blank with no lights

The screen is dark and no lights are on. Sometimes this is normal, early in the morning or late in the evening. At midday it usually means the inverter is not receiving power from either side.

What you will see

No display and no LEDs.
No generation in the app for the day.
The app may also show the plant as offline.

Why it happens

A grid-tied inverter powers itself from the solar panels, so it stays dark until there is enough light to start. On a hybrid, the battery or the grid can keep the screen alive.

At midday, a blank screen usually points to an open DC isolator, a tripped breaker, a failed connection on the solar side or an internal fault.

What you can check yourself

Check the time. Before sunrise and after sunset a blank screen can be normal on on-grid models.
Check that the AC breaker for the solar system is on.
On a hybrid, check that the battery breaker is on and the battery shows as awake.
Ask whether anyone has worked on the roof or the wiring recently.

What not to do

Do not open DC isolators or combiner boxes to check them.
Do not keep switching breakers on and off.

When to call us

It is still blank at midday on a clear day.
The AC breaker trips again when switched on.
