Kasur district at a glance

Kasur lies south of Lahore, between the Ravi to the north-west and the Sutlej, which forms its south-eastern boundary with India. It has four tehsils: Kasur, Pattoki, Chunian and Kot Radha Kishan. Farming is still the base of the economy, with industrial areas around Pattoki and Phool Nagar, and Chunian known for its sugar mills.

The Punjab government's district investment study lists 364 tanneries, by far the largest industrial group, along with 103 textile spinning units, 71 weaving units, rice and flour mills, chemicals, paper, dairy and sugar. Each of these has its own load pattern, which is why we survey before we quote.

Solar for Kasur's tanneries

Kasur is one of Pakistan's main leather-processing centres. Tanneries suit daytime solar because drums, pumps and finishing machines run through working hours, but they are harsh places for electrical equipment.

• Keep electronics away from damp and chemicals. Inverters, combiner boxes and distribution boards go in a dry, ventilated room, not in wet-process halls or near effluent channels.
• Choose corrosion-resistant fixings and route cables away from chemical and effluent areas.
• Plan for long running hours. Drums often run beyond daylight, so solar covers the daytime share and the grid, a generator or storage carries the rest.

Spinning, weaving and export buyers

Textile units in the district run motors and humidification around the clock in shifts. Solar cuts the daytime units; demand peaks at night may still set your maximum demand charge, so read what MDI on your bill means. Pattoki: solar for flower nurseries

Pattoki is known as the "City of Flowers", and much of its farmland has moved from cotton to flowers and nursery plants. A nursery's electrical load is usually modest but steady:

• Water pumps for irrigation and misting, often the largest load.
• Shade-house fans and lights in the hot months.
• Offices, cold rooms and packing areas for cut flowers sold in Lahore and beyond.

Pump loads run mainly by day, which suits solar. A pump needs a properly sized drive, and our solar tubewell and VFD guide explains sizing by horsepower and bore depth. Cut-flower cold rooms run at night too, so they need a hybrid design or grid backup.

Homes, smog and river land

Phase. Net billing is for three-phase consumers. A single-phase house that wants to export usually needs a three-phase connection first; see single-phase to three-phase conversion. A self-use hybrid system works without export.

Smog. Like Lahore, Kasur sees heavy smog in late autumn and winter. Output drops on bad days but does not stop; see solar in fog and smog. Dust from roads and factories settles all year, so plan safe roof access and read our solar panel cleaning guide.

Flood-prone land. The riverine plains along the Sutlej and Ravi flood in strong monsoons. In low-lying sites we mount the inverter, battery and distribution board above the known water level, keep cable joints off the ground and show you at handover how to isolate the system safely.

LESCO, AMI meters and net billing

Kasur is one of LESCO's five districts, with Lahore, Sheikhupura, Okara and Nankana Sahib. LESCO applies NEPRA's national rules, set out in our net metering and net billing guide:

• Net billing for new connections since 9 February 2026: imports billed at your tariff, exports credited at the national average energy purchase price, reported at about Rs 10-11 per unit at notification.
• Existing agreements keep their terms until expiry. LESCO has said consumers who increase net metering capacity are moved to net billing.
• Capacity up to your sanctioned load, overall cap 1 MW; three-phase 400 V or 11 kV consumers.
• Up to 25 kW, LESCO approves with no NEPRA fee; above 25 kW, NEPRA concurrence and a one-time Rs 1,000 per kW. See the 25 kW rule.
• Transformer limit: no new applications once solar on a transformer reaches 80% of its rating.
• Meters: LESCO fits AMI smart meters on solar connections and checks that the inverter make and serial number match the application. See AMI smart meters and net billing.

How we serve Kasur and Pattoki
