Solar in Nankana Sahib: Panel Prices, Rice Mills and LESCO
Short answer
Solar panels in Nankana Sahib cost the national market rate: today WhatsApp for today's rate per watt for mainstream N-type panels, about WhatsApp for today's rate for a 585 W solar plate. The district sits between our two offices, about 53 km east of Faisalabad and about 75 km west of Lahore, and its electricity comes from LESCO. It is also one of Punjab's rice-milling districts, which shapes what local factories need from solar. Solar Works Pakistan serves Nankana Sahib, Shahkot and Sangla Hill from its Faisalabad head office and Lahore branch with its own teams; we have no office in the district. WhatsApp 0336 666 4321 for today's rate.

Our projects start at about 6 kW. See solar for AC, the solar system price guide, lithium battery prices and the solar calculator.
About the district
Nankana Sahib was part of Sheikhupura district until 2005. It has three tehsils: Nankana Sahib, Shahkot and Sangla Hill, with Shahkot the largest town. It borders Faisalabad, Sheikhupura, Hafizabad, Kasur and Okara. The Punjab government's district study describes damp, cold winters with light to moderate rain from mid-December to mid-March, hot weather from April to June, and the monsoon from late June, with about 635 mm of rain a year. Sugarcane, wheat and rice are the main crops.
Rice mills: the district's main industry
The district study lists 109 rice mills, each with a sheller, as by far the largest industrial group, followed by 18 textile spinning units, two sugar mills and smaller flour, cotton and soap units. For rice-mill owners, three points shape a solar design:
1. The load is seasonal
Paddy arrives after the kharif harvest, and milling is heaviest in the months that follow. Outside the season, many mills run lighter or stop. Under net billing, surplus solar exported in quiet months earns far less than grid units cost, so size for the load the mill actually uses across the year, not only the peak season. Our guide to sizing under net billing explains the approach.
2. Motors, demand and generators
Shellers, polishers, elevators and dryers start large motors. Inverters must handle the starting current, and solar can help reduce daytime demand, which matters if you pay MDI charges. See our MDI guide. Many mills keep a generator for outages; with the right controls, solar can share the load with it (solar and generator hybrid). We integrate existing generators but do not sell them. For a full picture before you invest, our energy audit before industrial solar lists what to measure.
3. Husk dust, tin sheds and fire
Rice husk and bran dust settle on everything, including panels and inverter cooling fins. Mill sheds are usually tin or metal-sheet roofs, which need their own fixing method and a check of purlin strength; see solar on tin sheet roofs. Husk is also combustible. Inverters and combiner boxes should sit in a clean, enclosed room away from husk storage, with tidy cable routes and the right protection. Our solar fire safety guide covers the precautions.

Paddy fields and tubewells
Paddy needs a lot of water, and tubewell pumping is a large seasonal cost for many farms. Our solar tubewell and VFD guide explains sizing by horsepower and bore depth.
Solar Works Pakistan designs and installs solar for tubewells and farm buildings in Nankana Sahib district.
Homes in Nankana Sahib, Shahkot and Sangla Hill
For homes, the main load is summer cooling, with fans, a water motor and lighting the rest of the year. A few local points:
- Winter fog. Damp winters bring fog on many mornings, which cuts output until it lifts. Size from a full year of bills, not a summer month. Our guide to solar in fog and smog explains what to expect.
- Harvest-season dust and smoke. Dust from fields and roads, and smoke in the post-harvest months, dirty panels; check your monitoring app and clean when output drops. See our cleaning guide.
- Single-phase connections. Many houses are single-phase. Net billing is for three-phase consumers, so read our guide to single-phase to three-phase conversion if you want to export.
- Backup. If outages affect your feeder, a hybrid inverter with a lithium battery keeps essential loads running.
LESCO and net billing
LESCO supplies five districts: Lahore, Okara, Sheikhupura, Kasur and Nankana Sahib. It applies NEPRA's national rules, explained in our net metering and net billing guide:
| Rule | What it means in Nankana Sahib |
|---|---|
| Net billing since 9 February 2026 | Imports at your tariff; exports credited at the national average energy purchase price, reported at about Rs 10-11 per unit at notification. |
| Existing agreements | Keep their terms until expiry; increasing capacity can move you to net billing |
| Size | Up to your sanctioned load, overall cap 1 MW |
| Who qualifies | Three-phase 400 V or 11 kV consumers |
| Approval | LESCO approves up to 25 kW with no NEPRA fee; above 25 kW, NEPRA concurrence and a one-time Rs 1,000 per kW (25 kW rule) |
| Transformer | No new applications once solar on a transformer reaches 80% of its rating |
Our net billing guide notes that LESCO reported handling post-February applications through its Net Billing Portal. If your connection has, or receives, a smart AMI meter, our smart meter guide explains what they changed. For documents and step timelines, see our green meter and FESCO/LESCO application guide.
Solar Works Pakistan prepares, submits and follows up your LESCO net billing application.
How we serve Nankana Sahib
Our offices are in Faisalabad (head office) and Lahore, on either side of the district. Neighbouring areas have their own pages: Sheikhupura and Kasur to the east and Hafizabad and Wazirabad to the north.
- Send your bills on WhatsApp: twelve months, roof photos and the loads you want to run. Mill owners should add motor ratings, season dates and generator details.
- Remote review of units, sanctioned load and connection type, with an indicative size.
- Site survey, normally free, to check the roof or shed, shading, structure and cable routes.
- In-house design and a detailed BOQ with brand, model, quantity and warranty for every item.
- Installation by our own team, followed by testing, safe commissioning and handover.
Small projects are normally finished in about one week, subject to payment, equipment availability and site readiness. After a complaint is registered, we target sending service personnel within 48 hours to begin diagnosis; the time to a final fix depends on the fault and parts. Frequently asked questions
What is the solar panel price in Nankana Sahib today?
Mainstream N-type panels are WhatsApp for today's rate per watt, about WhatsApp for today's rate for a 615 W panel. Panel prices follow the national market. WhatsApp 0336 666 4321 for today's rate.
Do you have an office in Nankana Sahib?
No. Our offices are in Faisalabad and Lahore, both within easy reach of the district. Our own teams carry out surveys and installation.
Which DISCO supplies Nankana Sahib?
LESCO, which also supplies Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur and Okara. Net billing applications go to LESCO.
Is solar a good fit for a rice mill?
Often, because milling is mostly a daytime load. The season matters: size for the load the mill uses across the year, plan for motor starting current, and keep husk away from electrical equipment.
Can solar run a rice mill in the off-season?
In quiet months a mill needs much less power, so a system sized for the peak can produce surplus. Under net billing, exported units earn far less than grid units cost, which is why sizing needs care.
Does winter fog stop solar panels working?
Fog cuts output while it lasts, and panels recover once it clears. That is why we size from a full year of bills rather than a summer month.
Can I still get net metering from LESCO?
Not as a new applicant. Applications from 9 February 2026 come under net billing. Existing agreements keep their terms until they expire.
