Our general solar inverter faults guide explains how faults work on any brand. This page is the Solis-specific companion. If you are still choosing an inverter, see our Solis inverter price and models page.
What Solis inverter error codes mean
A Solis inverter constantly watches the grid, the solar strings, the battery (on hybrids) and its own temperature. When one goes outside its safe range, it shows an alarm and stops or limits output until conditions return to normal.
Three things help when reading them:
- The name matters more than the number. Solis's own list reuses some numbers for more than one alarm (for example 1020 is used for both OV-DC and BoostFal), so always write down the full name.
- A suffix shows the level. OV-G-V 01, 02, 03 and so on are different overvoltage levels or time limits, not different faults.
- Grid-tied and hybrid models differ. Solis publishes separate lists for grid-tied (GT) and energy-storage (ES, hybrid) inverters. Battery codes only appear on hybrids. Check the manual for your exact model.

The tables group the alarms Solis lists into grid, PV, temperature, battery and internal faults. Meanings are paraphrased from Solis's service documentation.
Grid alarms, including solis ov-g-v
| Alarm (number) | What it means | Typical cause in Punjab |
|---|---|---|
| OV-G-V 01 to 05 (1010) | Grid voltage above a protection limit, either briefly or as a 10-minute average | High local voltage, made worse by your own export at midday |
| UN-G-V (1011) | Grid voltage below the limit | Weak supply, long service cable, evening low voltage |
| OV-G-F (1012) / UN-G-F (1013) | Grid frequency too high or too low | Unstable grid or a generator feeding the grid input |
| NO-Grid (1015) | No grid detected | Load-shedding, a tripped AC breaker, a cut-out voltage protector |
| G-PHASE (1016) | Three-phase grid unbalanced | One phase missing or much lower than the others |
| G-F-FLU (1017) | Grid frequency abnormal | Unstable supply |
| GRID-INTF. (1030) | Grid interference | Distorted grid waveform, several inverters on one weak line |
| PHASE-FAULT (101A) | Grid phase angle abnormal | Wiring or supply phase problem |
Solis OV-G-V is the alarm most Punjab owners see. If it appears now and then, Solis says the inverter recovers by itself. If it happens every sunny afternoon, it is usually voltage rise at your connection point, which is explained in our guide to inverter tripping on high grid voltage. Changing protection limits is not an owner task: Solis says it needs utility approval and its own support.
The solis no grid error
NO-Grid means the inverter cannot see a usable grid. During load-shedding this is normal and expected: an on-grid inverter must stop, and a hybrid should switch to battery. See inverter grid fault during load-shedding. If NO-Grid shows while your lights are on from WAPDA, the cause is between the meter and the inverter: a tripped AC breaker, a voltage protector that has cut out, or a loose AC connection.
PV (solar side) alarms
| Alarm (number) | What it means | Owner action |
|---|---|---|
| PV ISO-PRO 01 / 02 (1033) | Low insulation between the solar wiring and earth | Note if it happens only at dawn, dusk or in rain; call an engineer if it persists |
| ILeak-PRO 01 to 04 (1034) | Leakage current protection operated | Note the weather pattern; engineer tests strings one by one |
| OV-DC (1020), OV-DC01 / OV-DC02 on hybrids | Solar input voltage above the inverter's maximum | Call an engineer; usually too many panels in series |
| DC-INTF. (1027) | Abnormal DC input current | Engineer checks DC wiring |
| Reve-DC (1028) | DC polarity reversed | Do not touch; engineer only |
| ARC-FAULT (1041) | DC arc detected | Treat as a fire risk; switch off by the manual's sequence and call an engineer |
PV ISO-PRO is the Solis name for an isolation fault. Solis notes it can appear at dawn, dusk or in rain, but a healthy array should not keep doing this. Our inverter isolation fault guide explains why. OV-DC is a design problem, often worst on cold winter mornings; see PV over voltage error.
Temperature alarms
| Alarm (number) | What it means |
|---|---|
| OV-TEM (1032) | Internal power stage too hot; Solis gives about 90 °C for single-phase and 115 °C for three-phase models |
| UN-TEM (103A) | Inverter too cold to run |
| LmtByTemp (status) | Output reduced because of heat; not a fault |
Solis's advice for OV-TEM is to check for direct sun and poor mounting, lower the surrounding temperature, power off for 15 minutes, then restart. In a Punjab summer this is usually an installation issue: see inverter overheating.
Battery and backup alarms (hybrid models)
| Alarm (number) | What it means |
|---|---|
| NO-Battery (1055) | Battery not detected: check the battery breaker or fuse position |
| OV-Vbatt (1053) / UN-Vbatt (1054) | Battery voltage too high or too low |
| CAN_Comm_FAIL (2012) | Battery communication lost |
| Alarm1-BMS (2015) / Alarm2-BMS (2017) | The battery's own BMS has raised an alarm |
| BatName-FAIL (2016) | Wrong battery brand selected in the inverter settings |
| Over-Load (1057) | Backup loads exceed what the inverter can supply |
| OV-Vbackup (1056) | Backup output voltage above its setting |
Communication and brand-selection alarms are setup issues for your installer; see battery and inverter communication. For Over-Load, switch off heavy loads first; our inverter overload guide explains why ACs and motors trigger it.
Meter and export-limit alarms
Failsafe (2010) and MET_Comm_FAIL (2011) mean the inverter has lost contact with its export meter or CT. On export-limited systems output may be held back until the link returns; this is an installer job.
Internal faults
Codes such as INI-FAULT (1031), RelayChk-FAIL (1035), DSP-B-FAULT (1036) and IGBT-OV-I (1048) are internal. Solis advises one restart, then support if it returns.
Status messages that are not faults
Generating, Waiting, OpenRun, SoftRun and Standby are normal operating states. LimByVg means output is being reduced because grid voltage is high, which is common in Punjab and is a sign of the voltage-rise problem above.
Quick-check table for solis inverter fault codes
| Symptom | Likely cause | Safe owner check | Call an engineer if... |
|---|---|---|---|
| OV-G-V most sunny afternoons | Voltage rise at your connection | Note times; check app voltage readings | It happens most days or output is lost |
| NO-Grid with WAPDA on | Tripped AC breaker or voltage protector | Look at the AC breaker and protector, without opening the DB | A breaker trips again after one reset |
| PV ISO-PRO in the morning | Damp connector or damaged cable | Note weather; look at roof wiring from a safe spot | It continues after the array dries |
| OV-TEM or LmtByTemp in summer | Heat, sun on inverter, blocked vents | Check shade and clear space around it | It continues after airflow improves |
| CAN_Comm_FAIL or BMS alarm | Battery link or BMS issue | Check the battery breaker position and app SOC | It does not clear after one correct restart |
| ARC-FAULT | Loose or damaged DC connection | Switch off by the manual's sequence | Always |
Safe owner checks, step by step
Safety box. Solar panels produce DC whenever there is daylight, even with the inverter off. Never open the inverter, the battery or any DC junction box, and never pull MC4 connectors. If you see smoke, smell burning, see water inside equipment or feel a shock from a metal part, switch off in the order your manual gives, keep away, and call a qualified engineer.
- Photograph the screen and the app. Capture the full alarm name, number and time. On SolisCloud, open the alarm history as well.
- Note the inverter model and serial number from the side label.
- Check whether the grid is on. Are other houses lit? Has your voltage protector cut out?
- Look at the breakers. Note which one, if any, has tripped. Reset once only if your installer showed you how.
- Check the pattern. Midday only? Damp mornings? When the AC or motor starts? During load-shedding?
- Restart once in the manufacturer's order. Use the shutdown and start-up sequence from your manual; our guide on how to restart a solar system safely explains the usual order.
- Keep the inverter clear. Remove anything stacked against it and keep vents free of dust, without opening the casing.
- If the app is offline but the screen looks normal, the inverter is likely working; see solar app offline.
What an engineer will check
- Grid alarms: voltage at the inverter and at the meter, AC cable size and joints, the grid standard selected on the inverter, and whether limits can be changed with DISCO approval.
- PV alarms: string voltage against the inverter's maximum, insulation resistance of each string, connectors, junction boxes and cable damage from rats or the structure edge.
- Temperature: location, airflow, fan condition and whether the inverter is running at its limit for hours.
- Battery: communication cable and port, battery brand setting, BMS alarms, and the battery's own log.
- Internal faults: firmware, then a manufacturer's warranty claim if the inverter itself is faulty.
How to prevent repeat alarms
- Shade and ventilate the inverter; keep it out of afternoon sun.
- Design strings for winter open-circuit voltage, not summer.
- Use matched, properly crimped connectors and protect cables from sharp edges and rodents.
- Wash panels gently, without spraying connectors or junction boxes.
- Compare models before buying: see Solis vs GoodWe.

Frequently asked questions
What does OV-G-V mean on a Solis inverter?
It means grid voltage went above one of the inverter's protection limits, so it disconnected. Occasional alarms clear on their own. If it happens most sunny afternoons, ask an engineer to check voltage rise and the AC cable.
Why does my Solis inverter show NO-Grid?
The inverter cannot detect the grid. In load-shedding this is normal. If WAPDA supply is on, check whether the AC breaker or voltage protector has tripped, then call your installer.
What is PV ISO-PRO on a Solis inverter?
It is a low insulation alarm on the solar wiring. Morning or rain-only alarms often point to a damp weak spot; if it stays after the panels dry, an engineer must test each string.
How to fix OV-TEM on a Solis inverter?
Improve shade and airflow around the inverter and let it cool. If it keeps returning in normal weather, the location, fan or loading needs an engineer's check.
What does CAN_Comm_FAIL mean on a Solis hybrid?
The inverter has lost communication with the battery. Check the battery is switched on, then call your installer to check the cable, port and battery settings.
Can I reset a Solis inverter error myself?
You can restart once using the sequence in your manual. If the same alarm returns, or a breaker trips again, stop and call an engineer.
Do you repair Solis inverters installed by other companies?
Yes, we can inspect and diagnose other installers' Solis systems across Punjab as a chargeable service. Send the alarm photo and model on WhatsApp 0336 666 4321 first.
